Greetings all, it's certainly been a while. Right now I'm leaning towards using a Kicker Comp RT (12") in my Tundra CrewMax (most likely in the box by Kicker). It's rated at 800 RMS (1600 Peak) and I am looking (as most of us are) for a quality, budget amp to power this. Any recommendations? I've come across Planet Audio, Power Acoustik, and a few other brands that seem reasonably priced. Also, any experience with this sub or setup? Many thanks.

Don't use power acoustik. They're shitty. What's your budget?

Thanks for the RF suggestion Quentin. Those seem pretty resonable as well.

Bassink, I'm trying to be around the $200 mark but can be talked into cheaper (priced, that is)!

Id do something like what Quentin said. Rockford prime series are good. I would even buy a quality amp that's 500 rms then a shitty amp that's 1000rms. You really won't hear a difference in a few hundred rms. the box is more in important.

What is your total budget? How much room do you have?

Good point Bassink. We always see that RMS mark and thing we need to be around that to hear the music when, truth is, the normal volume would use near that amount.

Rick, budget on an amp is around $200. I have a Tundra CrewMax so I have very little space. That's why I was looking at the Comp RT setup. I'm also an old man when it comes to car audio (I've been on both the basshead and audiophile sides of things) so simpler is better for me.

what voice coil configuration do you have? Or are you buying to suit the amp you pick?

If the second is the case, I am currently running a precision power sedona series 850.1D and so far am impressed with it.

it can be had through sonicelectronix for 159.99 and is rated for 850 watts x 1 @ 1 ohm

Any other recommendations out there? Since changing hands, it seems that PPI amps are more affordable? Also came across some Cadence amps.

Thanks nigel, if I go with the single Comp RT it will be a 2 Ohm load.

Are you planning to add a other down the road? It's going to be more expensive getting an amp for ~800 rms at 2 ohms than at 1 ohm.

No sir, one will do.

Go with a d2 then so you can wire it to 1 ohm.
