Posted April 20, 200619 yr I know these subs are designed more for SPL, but which of these subs has better SQ? Which can get louder and move more air? Thanks for any advice.
April 20, 200619 yr cone size goes to the L7, and if it's an 06 version, it's power handling is alot better then before.the sx can handle gobs of power and can move quite a bit of air itself.as far as sq goes, that's up to your ears. L7's can be clean woofers, but can be tricky to get that way. they can go boom with the best of them though.i've not heard an sx, so i can't really comment. but i'd wager they will both make you death fairly easiy, given the right enviroment. iflip a coin, lol. and go by your gut. i don't think you'll be disappointed with either.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

April 20, 200619 yr It's a real close call. I would have picked SX a couple years ago, but the L7's have really came along. Like Kent said, the 06 models are the shiz.Go L7's

Like Kent said, the 06 models are the shiz.Go L7'sabsolutely..night and freakin day difference from the 05's. kicker did their research with these new monsters...so much so that 4 8" L7's are destined to find their way under the back seat of my silverado.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
April 20, 200619 yr Admin Kent that would be a sick install. I was thinking if you want to retain SQ but want output, why not seal the L7? Plenty of out put and will hold good SQ.
April 20, 200619 yr all i can say is SX's are deffanitly awsoem street beaters. I havent heard the new l7's but the i would choose the SX over the old l7's any day. But because i havent heard the 06 line take my opinion as a gain of salt. Have you looked into RE's new MX series? sapposed to be louder than the current SX with better SQ as well. ive yet to hear a 3rd party review but david says they are closely ocmpeditive with the old XXX's in SQ only louder Edited April 20, 200619 yr by CBFryman
April 21, 200619 yr Author What about SS RL-p subs? I've read that they sound great, can they hang with either of these in SPL when ported and move as much air? Edited April 21, 200619 yr by T-Dub
April 21, 200619 yr What about SS RL-p subs? I've read that they sound great, can they hang with either of these in SPL when ported and move as much air?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>RL-p's are not intended for SPL.They are a SQL woofer and in no way geared toward SPL.
April 21, 200619 yr yet the rl-p's do indeed get loud. they would be an awesome choice, if you are geared more at the sq side. i don't believe they will hang with the L7 or sx for overall output, but they will be close and they will sound better in just about any install.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
April 21, 200619 yr Admin Like kent and elias said above, the RL-p is an outstanding woofer for SQ, it just happens to get loud. As for SPL bias, no, look somewhere else. I am curious about the new MX, but I am not sure I like the way RE is moving towards. Kicker has been good to me in the past, and I would probalbly lean towards the new L7.
