i'd personally stay away from Clarion and probably panasonic too, just my experence that they arent as high quality for the same price as Alpine or Eclipse. I had the same price range, ended up with Mrray13's eclipse 3434.

What do you feel is wrong with the Clarion and Panasonic?

What about Blaupunkt?

Clarion certainly makes decks that go head-to-head with the "Big 3" manufacturers, and more...I'm remembering CJJackson's top-end DRZ with four-way Xovers and some of the finest DACs around...

I never had problems with Panasonic, plus they also have low impedence, 5v preamps advertised. My bro didn't have probs with his clarion either. You will probably get a few more features out of panasonic or alpine for that price. But the Eclipses do have 5v outputs at that price as well.

I liked my el-cheapo Panasonic except for the fact that whenever it was cold, it wouldn't eject the CDs. It would just sit there and spin on it trying to "grip" the disc to eject it. Ended up scratching quite a few CDs.

Check Crutchfield. Every now and then, they clear out last years models at blowout prices. You certainly can't beat their service and warranty even if it is $50 extra. Also nice to get a free dash kit and harness.

the shop i work at carries both clarion and panasonic, as well as sony. we tend to have more problems withthe upper end screens then we do with the lower level units. that said, i'd use panasonic and sony over clarion in that price range as you get more features for your money. as you move up the model lines, it evens out.

i also second what ryan mentioned.

and a clarion will once again find it's way into my truck. the dmx955mc ( i believe that's the model number) will have a home in my silverado within a week.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:
