since most people i've seen are running this woofer in a ported setup, i was wondering how an rl-i8 would performed in a sealed box with about 450wrms running to it. also how big of a box would this need, if it were to go into a hatchback?

i have my pair in separate sealed boxes each getting 450w rms

the boxes are .35 cubes, and then with displacement factored in, they come out to be about 0.26 cubes per sub

if i were to build em again, i would bump em up to make 0.28 - 0.30 per sub after displacement

While these drivers will certainly perform in small boxes as noted - if you have the space available, you can just as well build a sealed enclosure up to 0.5 cu ft for slightly more output and low end extension.

i'm running mine in .17ft^3 net off about 100wrms, in room. it's sweet as hell!
