Posted September 26, 201311 yr Picked up a buddies old back not too long ago(Sir-lancelot) he previously had vinly on it and used the carpet spread glue not the spray. My plans are to repaint it glossy black for a ht box with a couple of other changes BUT the glue is so thick and isn't coming off! What would be the best way to remove it back to bare mdf? I been using a heat gun but it will take hours and hours to make a significant progress that way. Edited September 26, 201311 yr by Dictator

September 26, 201311 yr are you trying to re vinyl it? If not carpet will cover any imperfections to a degree.
September 26, 201311 yr Author you're trying to use that for HT? Are you looking for a wind effect? no wind effect lol just a chest full of low bass. Sealing two of the holes off and only running two 18's in it
September 26, 201311 yr Author No my plan isn't to re vinyl or carpet I would like to paint it glossy black... All my other equipment Is glossy black trying to match it all. Edited September 26, 201311 yr by Dictator
September 26, 201311 yr Seems like it would be easier just to add some more glue and use some glossy vinyl
September 26, 201311 yr Author why go through this trouble when you can just easily construct an IB? the subs in I'm using are not ib.
September 26, 201311 yr Author Seems like it would be easier just to add some more glue and use some glossy vinylI suck at putting vinyl on boxes
September 26, 201311 yr Author why dont you use body filler to build it up to a smooth surface??? that would be a lot of body filler!
September 26, 201311 yr why go through this trouble when you can just easily construct an IB? the subs in I'm using are not ib.And easily construct an IB setup? It is never easy to retrofit an IB setup in old construction.
September 26, 201311 yr Author Love that box, how is Lance doing? Tell him to stop by once in awhile lance is doing good just busy with family I suppose.
September 26, 201311 yr skin the outside with 1/2" MDF, then paint that. I second that , even if you can cand it down completely you'd still need to do this
