Posted October 3, 201311 yr Currently I have one 15" XCON in a ported box powered by a DC Audio 5K at 2 ohms (2300 watts nominal). I built the box with .75" birch and double walled the whole box. I am thinking about getting the new IA Death Penalty and stepping down to a 12" sub. My question is, do you think I should build a double walled box for the 12" DP on a DC 5K at 2 ohms? I don't really want to mess around with dowels for bracing and fiberglass to hold them in. And the XCON is great, I love it, but I have wanted a Death Penalty for a long time and need to step down in size so I can get some trunk room back for an air tank and compressors.
October 8, 201311 yr do a single and brace it with 3/4 inch wood rods and glass them ini know you don't want to but that is the way to go
October 8, 201311 yr single wall with strategically placed bracing will be a lot lighter than doubling all the walls. that's where my vote would be...
