Do they stll make those small, cheap amplifiers???

You know: like the Sherwood 25 x 4 (max wattage) type deal (for use with a factory radio).

Alpine used to make a lot of those types of amplifiers, with high level inputs for an OEM source...

30Wx2 ones pop up on Ebay all the time.

A "25Wx2" amplifier that's rated in max wattage really sin't much of an improvement over the head unit itself, though. Certainly not worth the hassle of installing an outboard amp.

wow, this coming from you?

no, even a 25x2 amp is a great improvemnet over any amp inside a h/u. it's definitely worth the trouble of installing, especially on the hig end of things. maybe you wouldn't see much of a difference from a 17 x 4 wrms h/u to a 25 x 4 amplifier on subs, but i guarantee you'd notice a difference on your mids and highs. a big difference. less distortion. more output. better control. all the things someone like you crave.

and in all honesty, i would wager on that.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

A 25Wx2 amplifier rated in "max watts" is what, 12.5 watts RMS?

So that's less than the head unit in your example :)

Hmm...that's a good amp for the house :)

Run it off a 12VDC bench supply, or hell, a small gel cell and float charger.
