Posted November 10, 201311 yr Got 2 IA death penalty 12s and need some amp advice. Budget is $700, thanks for the help guys.
November 10, 201311 yr 1500 w DP's or the new 2K watt version? ohm rating? This will help with the suggestions... Oh yeah- Welcome... Edited November 10, 201311 yr by Leedogg
November 11, 201311 yr Your more than likely gonna have to get two amps and strap them together if you have two dual 2 ohm subwoofers. Its gonna be a task getting those death penaltys in that Maro trunk.
November 11, 201311 yr Author Alright. I have never ran more than one amp. I have one of the DC subs n it now and my box builder said he could get two in there. I couldn't pass up the sale Haha. Thanks for the quick responses. What 2 amps would you go with jay
November 11, 201311 yr Your more than likely gonna have to get two amps and strap them together if you have two dual 2 ohm subwoofers. Its gonna be a task getting those death penaltys in that Maro trunk. But why cant he just wire .5 on just 1 amp?
November 11, 201311 yr Crescendo 3500D is warrantied at .5ohm; much harsher on electrical though. Edited November 11, 201311 yr by SpeakerBoy

I was going to suggest a 20.1 at .5 ohms- Lots of people do it...BUT it is an 'at you own risk' kind of deal.
November 11, 201311 yr .5 is an option but I'm not thinking the OP should do it with his knowledge. No offense.
November 11, 201311 yr Been looking into the Lanzar Optis for my next build. Most of them are .5 stable and do rated power at that ohm load. I will be running a 3201D at .5 in my next build. They have a 4001D ($400 shipped) as well that does 4K at .5 and a 4601D that does 4600 ($540 shipped) at .5. Sonic Electronix is an authorized dealer.http://www.sonicelectronix.com/search?action=search&keyword=lanzar+opti
November 11, 201311 yr I forgot about the Lanzar Opti's. Good suggestion. Look at MMATS too...they have .5 stable amps. And like Jon said- batteries and prolly an alt would be a no brainer, if you plan to play this for any leangth of time. Gotta take in all the variables when you start getting over 2K Watts...
November 11, 201311 yr I guess nobody cares about efficiency. Op I wouldnt run at .5 ohms for daily, now competing is a different story. Edited November 11, 201311 yr by jay-cee
November 11, 201311 yr I've been an IA dealer for 6 years and have never had a IA amp run .5 ohms longer than 15 min or so.
November 11, 201311 yr wow- and you read all the time guys saying they run down to .35 on those amps(competing ofcourse). Good info to know. I think the OP is going to have trouble finding an amp that makes the power to 2 ohms that he want for the price he posted. Edited November 11, 201311 yr by Leedogg
November 11, 201311 yr I guess nobody cares about efficiency. Op I wouldnt run at .5 ohms for daily, now competing is a different story.Yea I don't understand it either. I would rather have 2 smaller amps strapped at 2 ohms.
November 11, 201311 yr Well I can swap to 1 ohm subs if it would be easierCall IA and see if you can swap. It would be much easier that way. You would still need the big three and good electrical!
November 11, 201311 yr Author I have the big 3 already done, and 0 guage already ran in the car. Just waiting on the subs and box and amp. I swapped it to the 1 ohm subs. Thanks for all you guys help. Still need advise for the amp for two 1 ohm dp Edited November 11, 201311 yr by Blkcamaro11
