Also, which would you all choose?

RL-P or a Mag

If there was an actual comparison done, I would like to see that also, or if there is a link, that would be great too. thanks

SI Mag...the RL-p is a decent driver, don't get me wrong...but the SI takes it to the next level :)

i don't think the mag is all that more of a sub then the rl-p. i've listened to both..and personally, i think it's more of a brand choice. sq is neck and neck. spl might be the deciding factor. h2h, i couldn't tell you which will get louder. i think the mag will have an advantage there. budget, the rl-p walks the mag.

so what you get is this..

sq= pretty much a dead heat.

spl= edge to the mag, but that's opinion

cost=rl-p

box requirements= i think the rl-p is a bit more user friendly.

to say one is on the next level compared to the other one is an overstatement IMO. these two subs are really close to each other. real close.

the rl-s takes it to another level.

I am just curious.

But what type of enclosure was the mag in and what type of enclosure was the Rl-p that you heard in? Also, what version of the mag was it and what amps were used?

the output of the MAG is clear and strong in both sealed and ported,

the RL-p spec wise leans more towards ported, honestly it is a win win situation,

if you have the money for the MAG go for it, if not the RL-p is an excellent sub and I have test both subs.

i tested the new mag 15 in 2.5 ported tuned to 34 hz off an orion 2500d @ 1 ohm and 4 ohm

the rl-p 12 i own is currently in 2.5ft^3 tuned to 28hz off that same orion at 4 ohm. it's been in 1.25ft sealed, 1 ft sealed, 2 ft ported @ 34hz and it's current box. it's been powered by as little as 750 wrms and as much as 2500.

the mag was a lowend monster, as is the rl-p. bieng smaller, the rl-p carried the higher freqs better, but hte magnum is a real sub, no doubt!

either is a great choice. both willdo well ported OR sealed, you just have to build the proper enclosure.

aaron, specs lend itself to what? real world application is all that matters. if specs is all that matters then we'd be breaking 200db legal with all the physics geeks running around. but what's on paper amounts to squat for the most part when you get in vehicle.

the rl-p is more then capable in a sealed box. lends itself to ported? wtf? i don't care what brand it is..the specs get you pointed, building gets you there. trial and error makes it perfect.

sorry if i'm snappy...but here lately all i hear about this and that is paper this, specs that. we are trying to hard to read too much into what's on paper and not what happens in car/truck. hell, if paper was that accurate, then sony would hold records too.

jsut my .02 cents.

Mr snippy poo,

all I was saying that more people have been very happy with the ported RL-p's

GOSH, haha
