Posted May 4, 200619 yr I preordered the diyma 12" but need something to run in the meantime. the amp i have is 500w rms, probably underrated. i'm looking at either one of the eclipse sw 8000 lmt 10's sealed or a single rli-8 ported. The treo ssi 8" is on the list as well and it would be ported.
May 4, 200619 yr drop the ssi...treo's customer service sucks.damn...the eclipse would be kewl....as would the rl-i...crap..i dunno.....i vote for the eclipse, but ported. and i get dibs on it when you sell it.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
May 4, 200619 yr Author lol, playing with the numbers on the lmt eclipse's they take huge boxes and i don't have my car anymore, back in a regular cab Ram.
May 4, 200619 yr Try out the eclipse, be the guinea pig ...I'd like to hear some real world input... someone who gets to use them ....nG
May 4, 200619 yr lol, playing with the numbers on the lmt eclipse's they take huge boxes and i don't have my car anymore, back in a regular cab Ram.shit..we can get a pair of 15's sealed behind the seats of the new rams..so the lmt 10 shouldn't ba an issue...lol..and i've done ported 12's in the older ones...get the 10, let us know..and then sell it to me when your real sub gets there!wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

May 4, 200619 yr Author no idea, and you know eclipse tech support is like pulling teeth. my local dealers act like they've never heard if these too.
May 4, 200619 yr Author actually that was easy. eclipse tech support says "NO ported".sw 8000 10" .3-1.0ft netsw 8200 12" .5-1.5ft net Edited May 4, 200619 yr by JoeHemi57
May 4, 200619 yr Admin actually that was easy. eclipse tech support says "NO ported".sw 8000 10" .3-1.0ft netsw 8200 12" .5-1.5ft netthey said that about the older alumns, but those specs are not bad I was expecting closer to 3 for the 12
May 4, 200619 yr Author there were ported boxes on the spec sheet of my sw8102 i think but yeah when you called they recommended sealed. i really want to grab that 10" but i need to get my head unit and wires first or it would just sit around anyway.
May 5, 200619 yr Admin No ported...lolYet the LMT from TC you can port just fine I am curious the differences between the 8200, RL-s, TC 4Hp
May 5, 200619 yr Author hopefully the eclipse subs will be a little more automotive friendly than the Rl-s.
May 5, 200619 yr Admin hopefully the eclipse subs will be a little more automotive friendly than the Rl-s.with smaller box requirements they should be,but I wonder if the 8200 has H2 syndrome, where the company posts small box requirements and when in reality the sub needs a much larger box
May 5, 200619 yr if they recommend sealed and u still want to try ported..do a 4th order bandpassthey should do well in that kind of a box80
May 5, 200619 yr Author i plan to try the 10 in the same box i'm gonna use for my diyma 12", just gonna cut the hole bigger once it comes in. i'm planning on about .9 gross airspace.
May 5, 200619 yr Author That Treo amp i posted is gonna be the power and its an underrated 500w bridged @4ohm. i'm trying to sell my diyma preorder spot so i can go ahead and order the sub.
May 5, 200619 yr Admin That Treo amp i posted is gonna be the power and its an underrated 500w bridged @4ohm. i'm trying to sell my diyma preorder spot so i can go ahead and order the sub.I knew that was the amp, just did nto know the model or the wattage. By the looks of the internals it will be alot more than 500.
May 5, 200619 yr Author i think it will push a solid 600-650w so you guys think i should go for the 12 if i can get the preorder spot sold?
May 5, 200619 yr Admin Am I misreading you? bail on the DIY and go with the 8200?if so I like that idea
