I decided on a vehicle, and am just waiting for my check; In the mean time, I have some money set aside to start on the system in the new truck. So far i've decided on the equipment for the front stage (Zed and Crescendo speakers) just not how many lol.

I think $1250-1500 is fair for a setup; and that's what i'll put towards the subs. (tax money will pay for the front stage :) )

My goal is as loud as possible below 40hz.

I sold my BTL this morning, bittersweet, I only got to enjoy it for a few days before losing my truck :( But the new plan is a bunch of obsidians on a hifonics BRX 2400. I'm thinking four 18's, 24cubes @ 30hz.

That is about half the budget there, plus another 300 for the amp; and five hundred for a HO alt;

I'll probably build the box myself, nothing fancy, just right angles and four holes plus a port.

I am open to any suggestions, however I'd like to keep it below 5krms though.

Kept the BTL after all.

Keep the btl : this sub is a beast ! Get a second one if you can/find one.

ZED amp and Crescendo speakers ? Why ? expensive amp and cheap speakers : surprising,...for me.

Why obsidians? Si 18's are on salle might be cheaper if you live near them

Keeping the BTL, and going to aim for a set of Hybrids in the fronts, but i'll just throw some bullshit speakers that will make noise in for now, I don't have nearly enough to throw into a frontstage right now, court costs went through the roof.

Stereo integrity is the same maker and is meant for home theater as the parts are a lot softer. However, since you're going for below 40hz this might not be a bad thing. I am currently running 4 OA 18's in near the same size tuned to 31hz and it has a very wide bandwidth and sounds great. I also run strapped aq2200's and only turn it up for burps though so I can't say for daily really.

Don't waste your money like that

Not worth the tag?

I just read some reviews. I'm not too sure about the pricing between the series', and which line i'd choose.

Alternatives? Something that would work well in a high output two way is what i'm after, but I don't want just loud. I'm tired of having just blaring, tinny scratchy bullshit ass sound. I am front stage retarded.

budget? this would include money for deadening the front doors and the front stage amp.

edit: maybe another thread since this is titled substage haha

There's no total budget, it's an ongoing thing; I mean, don't link me a set of thousand dollar tweeters I'd say a $500 for speakers, $500 on amps, and as much deadening as it takes. this is going to be the hard part, the rest of this year is dedicated to the front stage since all the woofer needs is a prettier box.

Its far more important that its worth the money than the price tag be in a certain range

Oh god I hate posting from my phone. There is a thread for my front stage already. My dumb ass just forgot about it. Got sad and stopped posting for a while when I lost my truck.

Hybrid stuff is overpriced crap IMO. Not that it can't sound good, but for 1/5 the price you can compete. Loud isn't its forte either.

Oh, I gotcha.

Product videos ARE sexy though lol

I used both for Ht applications the si drops a little lower but the obsidian hits the higher notes 40hz and above with more punch(Used same box 6cubes net tuned 31hz 110inchs of port area). I prefer the lower end.

Chopped and screwed, S.L.A.B.-ed, slowed, decaf; that's my flavor.

I go to a whole different driver selection. If you're really wanting to dip into the lows. Not just "play" them. My ideas will probably blow your budget though. HAT does seem a tad over priced. Honestly, you can build yourself a nice three way front stage with a Levi. I wish mine wouldn't have taken dump. Serious amount of power, really low noise floor and more crossover options than you can shake a stick at.

If you're really looking into dipping into the lows, I'll suggest a custom built driver. I'm waiting to see how much coils are, but I've got a 13w7 motor I'm looking to build and maybe more if it turns out good. I feel it's a great starting point.

I was keeping the price low.

I listen to rap music, and my current woofer is to stay; Was gonna sell and switch it from the ufo btl 18 to a pair of obby's but if anything, a zcon, or an sp4. I dont even really feel a need to upgrade i havent gotten it past quarter output anyway. Thinking a new box will complete the substage along with a new lows amp. One day it'll be a pair of minotaurs but for now itll be a brx2000.1

The downside to brainstorming a crystal clear sub setup for me, is, I like it nauseatingly loud. So quality drowns along the line somewhere

no reason to frankenstein a woofer to meet those goals with so many subs already on the market. vehicle acoustics and enclosure design should be the area of focus.
