im thinking of getting 2 mag 2d 15's for my van I want SQ mostly listen to metal and rock so kick drum and bass guitar is important.

size doesnt matter got most of the back of my hiace to fill up. so what size enclosure, ported/sealed, tuning, power ect. and maybe any nice amps you guys know of. I was thinking of getting 4, what you guys think of that? a waste of time? just thinking that if sealed is better for SQ then just get more subs for more spl. money isnt an issue.

not buying right now but gota plan and see how much i need to save. and if you wouldnt mind could you explain tuning an enclosure for me :) i dont have a clue about it. thanks.

If SPL isn't an issue get a single Mag 15 sealed in 3 cubes sealed. If you want a good amount of SPL get two Mag 15's sealed in ~2.5 cubes sealed each. If you want LOTS of SPL get 4 Mag 15's and do what you want to with them. Porting 4 15's will be sick if you have the right charging system to go along with it.

Thanks Electrodynamic, and Tirefryr I dont see how lots of drivers and power would decrease SQ? plz enlighten me. I want SQ but i also wana be able to say i have 2/4 15 inch subs in my van, is that wrong :( And spl is and issue just SQ comes first. So sealed is the go? People have been saying you cant go as low and stuff with sealed, as i said i have no idea about enclosures. I listen to alot of metal, black metal, power metal. Lots of double kick and powerfull bass riffs. im guna get some CDT gear for the front, one of the 3 way systems and an image enchancement kit to go with whatever i decide in subs. Thanks.

It doesn't decrease SQ. I just have to laugh to myself when I see that acronym used and people refer to something that has the capability to reach insane pressure levels. Hell I laugh at myself cuz all I'm concerned about is good sound, but even my single 12 is too much.

Yea i get ya :) im just doing it for fun, and good sound i have nothing better to do. any help anyone?

Mmm..... no :) So nobody can help me? i know im a noob but still.

i think tirefryr is just saying, if you want to keep good SQ with loads of subs you better invest alot in a frontstage to hold their own against that many subs.

i like it better when you system is louder than some else's and they have 2 15's or 4, and they ask you what you have and you tell them 1 12"

:woot:

also CDT will sound very nice im running some CL-61's 100w each, sounds great with my 1 12" sealed but today i put my second one in, n a friends box... found out i'll need to upgrade the front stage... anyways i made one mag pop some of the screws that was holding it in... also the middle board that seperates the subs so they are in diff chambers came a little loose and rattles :) took me about 1 minute of playing around to do all that :) dumb prefab sub box's :) 3/4 thick no double front baffle :(

BTW: You can go lower sealed versus ported. Ported gets louder than sealed but takes up more volume than sealed. Ported enclosures just have a nack for sounding "louder" lower because up to a certain point the ported enclosure IS louder than sealed...but below tuning is where the sealed enclosures come out ahead (AKA: 25 Hz'ish and below). So if you want great SQ stay sealed. Doing so also keeps your enclosure size down and allows you to shake the steering column with 16 Hz. :)

Ported boxes are louder because they are more "peaky" as sealed boxes have a much flatter response curve

the ported box, if i recall correctly, has a +3 db at/around tuning and basically a -3 or more db below tuning...

i think thats right, ive been studying for finals so if my info is sketchy blame it on the lack of sleep
