I'm building a midgate box for my avalanche and I'm looking for a good "SQL" Sub. The box is 3.8 net after port tuned to 31hz with roughly 38 sq in port (3-4" PVC 24" long). I'm going to go with a dual 12" set up or a single 15". Looking at 12" Dcons or Gcons if the box size will work or 1-15" Icon. Sub(s) will face the seat and port will be in the bed. Going to run a BRX1600 or BRX2000 depending on which sub. 60/40 on sq vs spl. Need some opinions. Thanks.

There are some very good experts, here, for box design, but I think 3 4" aeroport for a single 15" Gcon can be too much.

Maybe it is good for 2 12" Dcons.

Good luck :)  :)

Thanks. Going off the SSA specs I'm wondering if the box may be too small for 2-12" Gcons. My options maybe 2-12" Dcons or 1-15" Icon. Box was previously built for 2-12" type r's but sold them and decided to go another route.

That enclosure will work with Gcon's.  At the moment though, we are still awaiting magnets to arrive at the build house for the Gcon's.

I'm not in a time crunch just looking for something that will work out great and hit the deep lows. How would 2-12" GCONS do against 1-15" ICON in this box? The box is has been fiberglass resined both inside and outside. Outside for moisture prevention and inside to keep any leakage thru the 3/4" MDF which is debatable I know. If I go the Gcons I assume the BRX2000 would work great with gains set accordingly?

I appreciate your fast response Aaron. I meant to ask if y'all had a date yet for the GCONS and how far out would an ICON be. Thanks man.

The dcons and gcons are unavailable at this time. The enclosure is too small for two 12" gcons but could work for the last generation dcons. The enclosure is perfect for the 15" icon which would be my choice. Please do not use the term SQL, There is no such thing as sound quality loudness, it sounds like you are asking for a subwoofer that will not sound like crap.

Do you have any pictures of said enclosure?

Haha sorry saying I don't want spl. I want something that will hit the lows, be accurate and still be loud. I can post up pics tonight when I get home. I know the specs on the DCONs now say 1.75 per minimum which I would be good for but I take it the next DCONs coming out going to be different than what's listed on the site? I'm leaning towards the 15" ICON esp if the 2-12" Dcons will not come close to what I'm looking for in this box.

The pair of Gcon's would have the slight advantage due to greater cone and power compression.  The Gcon's would work fine with that amplifier.

No date yet on Gcon mags, Icon would be the normal 21+/- business days at this time.

Yes, the new Dcon's are different that what is listed on the site at the moment.  As Sean said, the Icon 15 would be a great choice.

Thanks Guys I'm going to order the 15" Icon dual 2 ohm. I'll post some pics of the install once it comes in and I get rolling!
