Dont worry about what everyone else is doing, just make sure you build an efficient enclosure and your good to go. I wouldnt put 3500 watts on a sub for daily but to each its own.

  • looking real nice!!!

Happy to hear about your dad dude.

I like you "lets see what happens" attitude. Since you added all that weight to the door panels. Are you adding any extra attachments from the door panel to the door itself? Maybe some screws  or something? Are the speakers in a sealed enclosure on the door panel? Or do they vent into the doors?

looks good!

The door panels are held on by about 10 plastic clips and 4 screws from the factory.  I am going to see how well it holds before I add any extra screws in.  I don't think I am adding THAT much weight to it where it will make any difference.  If I need to, I can always do that later.  As far as the enclosure goes, it is sealed off behind the door panel.  I layer down some fiberglass on the front and back of each door panel to add strength and also to seal it off as a chamber.

I am hoping to do some good work on the car tomorrow.  I plan to run the RCAs, run the 0awg runs from front to back, do the big 3, install the new battery, and maybe even get the doors wired up.  Depends on how motivated I am tomorrow when I wake up.

Getting a lot done today.  Finished the Big 3, and now working on mounting up speakers to the door panels.  Pics incoming.

I am going to be covering the door panels with suede next month. I just plasti-dipped them for now. (Yes, I know I should have sanded them better before painting them) I got impatient to hear them.

I wasn't able to work on the car much in the last few weeks due to 2 things:

1) My dad has been getting better so I have been spending a lot of time with him.

2) I moved to a new apartment closer to work.

I just got some new wheels and tires today.

I love the way they look!

I also finished the doors and reinstalled the interior.  I am planning on covering the door panels in suede in the next few months but I wanted to hear them play for the last part of the summer.

Nice upgrades man, wheels fit the car well.

Pods look good! How do you like them?

Shame Pontiac is no more.

I still have some tuning to do, but so far I like them.  If I had to do it all over again, I know of a few things I would change, but that is the fun of doing something you have never done before.  :)

I am going to start drawing up the design tonight after work for the sub enclosure.  It will be a basic ported box tuned to 33 Hz.

Yesterday I bought a tablesaw...

I was working off of my design

20140802_180403.jpg

And even did some 45's.

20140802_184114.jpg

I have everything cut and sitting in my living room.  Of course this happens to be one of the busiest weeks I have so it won't be finished until next weekend most likely.

What is the reasoning for putting another 45 bend at the port opening?

Tablesaw is a must for perfectly square cuts!

The 45 at the opening of the port was kind of a last minute thought.  I want to try it out as a pseudo-kerf and see if I can tell a difference or not.  Plus, it looks kind of cool to me. :)

nice progress

Thanks, I hope to finish up the box this weekend.  With my schedule, I am not able to just sit down and finish it.  I need one day of nothing going on so I can just knock it out.

It got dark on my pretty quick so I wasn't able to finish it tonight.  Tomorrow morning I plan to attach the top baffle and bolt it down.  It should be playing by 10am.  I can't wait to hear it!

Looks good
