What was the reason for the way you did the port?

Very nice. You going to paint the box?

Thanks. Yeah, probably bed liner. It'll get done before Slamfest in September.

What do you mean?

Iv just seen some people recently doing that same style port and was wondering if there was a reason behind it. . Is it just because of space issues with the subs or something?

Why does it seem weird to you? Its a port

It doesn't seem weird, I'm asking if there was a reason. . I try to learn everything I can about audio. My bad lol

And a port is not just a port. There is usually a reason for a certain way someone does there port

Didn't want a long skinny port across the bottom and didn't have the width to do a center or side port so this is what I came up with. May end up shrinking it. Have to wait for the subs to break in and see. Really lacking on the low end right now. Plays it fine and the subs are moving good, but there's just no authority behind it. May try to block off the open area, where my batts are, under the box in the back. Think maybe it could be losing it there also.

The Plan:

First thing I'm gonna do is pull everything out and put the third row seat back in then fold it down flat back into the hole where my batts currently are. This will give me a solid floor for the box to sit on and port to fire over. I think that will force a lot of lost output back into the cabin.

If that still doesn't get me to where I think it should, next I will try turning the box around and firing the port into the cabin.

Last resort, cover the port and drop 3 8" sonotubes in the top baffle, opposite the subs. At 12.45" a piece, they will give me around 150 sqin of port area and a tuning of 28Hz.

Found out why my voltage has been so low, that's my front batt

And this is what it looks like now

Putting this seat back in made all the difference in the world. Port is now loading off the hatch instead of dumping into the open space that was under the box. Brought the lows out!!

Pretty cool what just moving around some stuff can help lol

Yeah, I'd say the lows have definitely come in. The great thing about it is it still hammers the higher end also.

Seems like a lot more flexing

My only goal was to break a 45 on music. Mission accomplished!!

Need to stop the flex in my roof and rear hatch. I'm sure I'll gain once that's taken care of.
