July 3, 201411 yr Author Sounds good. I'd like to meet some new people, that actually know what they're doing... Should be a good show for me.
July 3, 201411 yr There is a show on the 13th of July at DipTex. you can find info at Bassbattles and Soundoff.org for bass comps in the Houston and surrounding areas. I'm always down for a few beers!!Tell Paul at DipTex I said hello. Those guys know how to get loud for sure.

July 3, 201411 yr Author I think they might have the blazer running by that time. (12) ethos 15's on 40kDefinitely checking that out... Hey Quentin, you offer recones for the Ethos right? I think in maybe 6 months to a year, I will order D1 coils so I can wire to 1ohm. Didn't want to do it right now, as my amps still have that new car smell to them I know rise varies with every tone, but I think I'm seeing close to 3.5ohms of rise on average. I'm assuming it will probably be somewhat safe to wire the Q2200's at 1ohm strapped... I know you can't "tell" me to do it, but are the SoundQubed amps typically ok to wire to .5ohm single or 1ohm strapped? This will be a daily driver as well...
July 3, 201411 yr Author Well this sucks, my left front 6.5 Kappa just shorted out on me. I took the speaker out of the door and water poured out of it. Looks like I'm going to be looking for some front stage much sooner than I thought. I need to find those dense foam acoustic rings that go around my speakers to protect them. This really sucks! I liked the Kappa's... Oh well, time to move on to bigger an better, whatever that may be!
July 3, 201411 yr The rise seen in most systems isn't caused by frequency or music played. Your typical dmm doesn't read quick enough. The rise seen is caused from heat. The dual twos have been shown on the Klippel to get over 6 ohms in series.

I'm sure it will still be a marked improvement over my current setup. I'm excited for them to get here, I'll tell you that...

It is the one Q designed for me on the same setup you are getting. Works beautifully. Welcome to the site btw!!

Basically, its 32.5hz, Vb=3 34.5W 16.5H 23.375D with 5 1/8" port width. Leaves me 3.75 before displacement/bracing. Let me see if I can post the pic. I can't take credit for the box design, as Joe X over at SMD designed it for me. I doubt it sounds bad, but you never know. Joe X designs some decent enclosures and I haven't heard to many bad complaints, if any at all. Now I have a proven back up... Thanks By the way, this is for everyone, this site has been much friendlier and straight forward in regard to responses, over SMD. Thanks for all the welcomes and valuable information everyone has shared with me so far.
July 4, 201411 yr Author Quentin, do you have any decals that I can buy to put on my enclosure? I would like a big DSS or something like that so I can poly over it. Let me know if you do please...
July 4, 201411 yr How big would you like it? I can up to ~13 x 39 and still be proportionate. I have blue, white, black, silver, and red.Send me an email or on so I don't forget Edited July 4, 201411 yr by Quentin Jarrell

July 27, 201411 yr Sweet and old school guy. I'm in the humble area if you need any help. I've built many systems and love doing it.
August 3, 201411 yr Author Sweet and old school guy. I'm in the humble area if you need any help. I've built many systems and love doing it.drailed77, what's up? Sorry for just getting back with you, been on vacation. Computer off, cell phone off, disconnected from the world. Was quite nice! Well, I'm having an issue with my enclosure. The lows from 27hz to @35-37hz still sound sick! Anything higher than that, and it's like i'm hearing a knocking sound in my enclosure. It sounds like it's really coming mainly from the right subwoofer area, closest to the port. Almost sounds like resonating of some kind. It's making me sick... This enclosure was a BIOTCH getting in my car and now I also have it sealed off. What I would like to do, since it looks like I'm going to have to hack into my enclosure (and it won't ever be the same after that) is design it with a center round opening of some sort. I think I can save some space and also get the end result I'm looking for. Here's the question, I've always designed slots as my ports, using the enclosure of one of the port walls. I've NEVER designed or built a round port. I'm thinking with (2) 12" Ethos, I will need at least an 8" aero to make this happen Is this correct? Also, is it good to flare both the inside AND outside, or just the inside, or just the outside? This is a daily driver application, sealed off, and probably no competitions. I want it to sound good on music, but also get loud when I want it too. So, a little mix of both... Where I get confused on designing this type of enclosure is, the part where it asks for Vb, do I put in net Vb or gross Vb, so it can determine the length of the tube to get to the desired tuning frequency? This is where i'm confused... I'm sure this is a completely noob question, but this is where i'm stuck... Any help will always be appreciated!
