Posted September 22, 201410 yr The new series x14 hifonics amps have been out for almost a year from what I've seen online with very few reviews... I have an fi bl 15 on the way estimated "wed 24th" and picked up a x14 1500.1d then later returned it because the bl can take much more power if properly tuned. Some say you can tell how powerful the amp actually is by the guts or fuses, to me it seems almost in comparison with the high end amplifiers. And any information or opinions on this subject would be greatly appreciated. The high end amplifiers put me out of my price range for the build reason I ask.
September 22, 201410 yr Hifonics(Maxxsonics) makes great budget amps. I currently run a BRZ2400.1D myself. Lots of other people use them with good results as well. Give an amp proper electrical supply and most amps will perform the same as long as they are of halfway decent quality. Edited September 22, 201410 yr by hdrox88
September 22, 201410 yr Author Sounds about right. Thanks for the reply. I have a big three upgrade, yellow top under the hood. And my trailblazer alternator puts out 150 amps. Should be sufficient
September 22, 201410 yr If you are going to be using the full potential of that 2200, keep an eye on your voltage. A second battery would be ideal, but you may be ok depending on your listening habits.
September 22, 201410 yr Author Thanks man ! Just installed a dragon gauge volt meter last. It's accurate and looks good too. 20$ on ebay. Would you say dropping below 13 volts is needing a second battery? I have 4 10's on 1200 rms and my volts need never go less than 13.5 v. Edited September 22, 201410 yr by chriswilli4ms
September 22, 201410 yr Just because amps have the same setup on the inside or same number of parts as other brands, it doesn't mean they are equal. The compoments themselves are what make amps, some use higher quality parts with higher tolerances than other companies. In car audio looks are not everything
September 23, 201410 yr Author Reason I said this is because both amps have 4 gauge wire connected to the terminals. Bunch of guys were ragging on the new series hifonics over on the SMD.http://www.*****.com/board/topic/184080-hifonics-brutus-x22001d/
September 23, 201410 yr Key to your last statement, "SMD," you will find that SMD gets little to no rep or respect on this forum. Most of the time for good reason as well. I have an account over there, but I haven't logged on since I can't remember when. Ragging and pissing matches made up most of what I would find over there in my searching. As for voltage, that will vary from person to person. Personally, I try to keep above 13v if at all possible. Since my grounding under the hood, that has been a non issue for me. Though, I already have a second battery. If you start dipping down past battery resting voltage you should strongly consider a second battery if your wiring is already up to par.
September 24, 201410 yr Author I see what you mean, I'm glad I didn't make an account. Do you use a same model/brand second battery or something like this?I know capacitors are worthless but 100 farad battary?http://www.amazon.com/Kinetik-HC600-Watt-Power-Battery/dp/B000LUBQ4I
September 24, 201410 yr As long as you have the same battery chemistry you are ok. Meaning, if you have an agm battery in the rear, you want you battery under the hood to be agm as well. I use diehard platinum batteries. They are agm and a good value. They might not look as nice as a kinetik or XSpower battery, but for the price, they are tough to beat.
September 24, 201410 yr Author I bought a yellow top at farm and fleet for 150$ on Sale. After the big three it brought my voltage up considerably. My fi bl 15 is suppose to be here tomorrow then I'll be able to see if an upgrade or addition is required. Will report back!
September 27, 201410 yr I can't believe no one has complimented you pretty kerfed enclosure. Very Nice! I see fun toys in the background too. Too bad they get a bath while you build What do you ride? FZ1 here.
September 27, 201410 yr Author Bl is amazing ! Hands down! Love the volt meter as well. 20$ from eBayThanks for the compliment!I'm storing my uncles kawasaki zrx 1100.and I ride a 2004 xb12s buell
