Posted May 25, 200619 yr the beginning....86 fiero that i'm trying to fix up, just finished the headliner today. Process...remove the whole interior, because i'm going to fix anything that needs it, headliner came out and made the voyage to bburg with me. I started by removing the old headliner and the staples that someone else had used. I then brushed a ton of resin on the backside of the liner (not the front where the fabric goes so i could avoid messing up the contours). This strengthened the old thing a LOT and i ended up using about 1/2 of a (quart?) of resin. Then i layed two layers of fiberglass mat over the spots where the visors hold the headliner up since they had pulled away from the rest of the headliner. Two layers is more than enough for me to hold the whole headliner up with just the one corner, and i was too lazy to put any more layers on. Sorry about the crappy pics, but the camera phone is all i have, the last two really don't show the contours of the headliner but given that it's black you can't really see them in person either. Then after screwing up the first layer of fabric(faux suede, ivory in color) I bought actual headliner material from jo-ann fabric (cost....$20) The adhesive that i bought there is working great, but don't remember the name off hand (price was $7 for a small can, enough to do the small fiero headliner). spray both sides following the direction on the can, work well into the cornersflip, cut away the corners and tuck them in, finished product turned out great IMO, much stronger and looks better, now i just have to make some more of the interior black to match it (the original plan anyway)
May 25, 200619 yr Author motorola e815 actually one of the nicer camera phones i've seen.the liner is actual headliner material, it has a 1/8" foam backing on it which makes it nearly impossible to wrinkle.edit: reduced the size on the pics a little so they can be viewed easier
May 25, 200619 yr Author the headliner barely fits through the opening, i had to bend it quite a bit, i might actually pull the seat out to put it back in.do the M? no way. I'd be wayyy too scared i'd screw something up. This was just my lil ole fiero, if i tore it up i'm out like $10
May 25, 200619 yr Author the wally world here had nothing but crap, i got one can of adhesive there though. The fabric came from jo-ann's i think they have a website www.jo-ann.com
May 26, 200619 yr Author it's sitting in the living room, come by any time. The fiero won't make its way to bburg for a while though. Just got news from dad that he installed the other front caliper (we broke the bleed valve off) so now he just has to bleed them and mom won't help him, lmfao. After that just small chit like new wiper blades and some hardcore cleaning before its ready to drive.
