I was wonderingb could i put it in a box thats 22"x22"x22" with the sub inverted? Tuned to like 40hz? External portsYikes. The word "custom" means for anyone to answer anything you need to measure the T/S parameters otherwise it is a 1000% crap shoot. 40Hz sounds awful for a Q....
August 31, 201510 yr Author Yeah well its either 40hz q 18 or $500 to rebuild 2 w6s into 8s or 10s. Trying to go the wasier route first
August 31, 201510 yr And that option would be even worse.* *I assume you mis-used the 4th order term considering the way you wrote that I would assume a standard ported box which has a 4th order rolloff. If you meant bandpass, which I assume the HDS in a 4th order BP will sound like complete shit compared to running the 18" Q sealed. Btw, you can't recone your W6's that way, but you could run a pair of those sealed as well which would also smoke the HDS.
August 31, 201510 yr You can also recone your Q to a smaller size, with genuine parts from Fi. It could be cheaper than reconing your W6s.The 18" in a seled box can sound nice too. You will love it.
October 16, 20159 yr Admin Sealed for the Q is my vote. The High QTS is an option that is adjustments done to the motor when it is being machined.
