I'm thinking about buying an RLP 15" for my home audio needs. I've always wanted to try SS audio and just haven't gotten around to it but what better way then HT! My question is how much power does this thing need to sound good in an HT setup? I read from a different thread that anywhere from 2.0^3's to 4.0^3's tuned from 17hz to 20hz will be best so within that range of box specs, how much power will it need?

2 cubes is too small for the 15, it needs at least 2.75 from what I have read

you could get away with 2 cubes sealed, but no way tuned that low.

i'd suggest the larger enclosure, 4 cubes, 35-50in^2 of port (depending if you go round or slot) and tuned in the low 20's. i'd think anywhere from 250-500wrms would really kick the hell outa your home too..lol...

yeah see I want bass but I don't want it so loud that it's shaking stuff of my walls. I'll try a big enclosure and tune it to 20hz I suppose and just throw a 500 watt plate amp on it. Who wants to give me box plans ^_^

Hey guys I've been doing some research on other forums about home audio and the boxes look so much harder to build than CA stuff. Seriously, does anyone here have exp buildilng boxes for HT stuff? I stummbled across a couple forums that have used RL-P's for their setup and hopefully someone can help me but I'm just wondering if any of you guys have ever tackled something like this before.

im lookin to do almost the same thing, except with an RL-p 12" so im quite interested in this. It will be my first venture into DIY home audio, and am looking for some box plans as well, and i am also looking for a recommendation on an amp. i was thinking about a partsexpress 500 watt plate amp.
