I`m a newbie here at this forum so be paitent with me...I need to know what size port to use on a 12 mag tuned to 32 hz? how do i convert square inches into w x h x l for the port i will be using a slot port Nick said that i would need a least 24 square inches...correct me if i`m wrong but would`nt 24 sq inches be like 12" x12" or 12^2?

this is the proper formula for designing a port

24 sq inches is 12"x2" port. 12"x12" is 144 sq inches.

When a measurement is "squared" it means that you are dealing with a unit of measure in AREA, hence 12 inches * 2 inches is 24 inches SQUARED (inches * inches = inches^2). When something is CUBED it means that you are dealing with a VOLUME.

For example

36 in^2 = L*W=36 (could be 9*4, or an infinite number of possibilites)

40 in^2 = L*W=40 (20"Long * 2" Wide = 40 Square Inches)
