i finished sanding and filing the edges today ill start with the polishing tomorrow. anyone know the best clear coat that is of course heat resistant and will bond well to a smooth surface. i have a paint gun and ill be usin that probably unless they have a quality spray can out there. Soon ill be bangin it to hell again... the reason the guys at SI put these dank subs together,

I feel for you as I attempted this last year, but ran out of patience.

Hehe I can picture you just flipping out and just screaming SCREW IT!

Thats true. if it wasnt aluminum i would just go get it dipped in chrome... well it feels like aluminum. . 15k whine from the dremel for hours is annoying but i think it will be worth it.

its aluminum

and it looks like your gualling it...

need to put a buffing wheel on a stand and polish it with the brick of white polishing stick stuff...still doubt if your going to get it really shiny...its not 'that' type/blend of aluminum...

looks freaking awsome

gualling?

what is the chemical make up of this basket...

it will polish nicely and have you tryed it?

also if i want it "chrome looking" i have to polish it because from my understanding they cant dip aluminum into chrome

Ok yes i am GALLING it at first... how else can i get the black powder coating off, and a huge polishing wheel isnt practical, so ill stick to the Dremel for all my polishing griding sanding engraving routing cutting needs.

Anyone know of the best clear coat in a spray can. or better yet a paint gun ???

i would have but the stripping and sanding are done... i finished with 260 grit. u think i should wet sand it before i use a polishing wheel?

You'll have to finish with a MUCH finer paper than that. I had to hit it with 3000 just to polish out the scratches. I also agree with Nick. A loose wheel and some good ruge will be best.

Also as for the finish, I was able to achieve a mirror like shine, albeit I only did one spoke.

Too much work.

"A loose wheel and some good ruge will be best."

i dont get that.

i have some handy bits for my dremel it has everything i need to do it and do it fast

oh and i looked at the paper and its 400 was the last grit i used, 260 was the 1st to get the grey off from the powder coat.
