Im just wondering what one of these runs for new. I found out that one of the local shops is a dealer. Before i go walking in there to fart on their knowledge like is my monthly ritual i'd like to know what these run for. Depending i may bite it and buy one assumeing it has the pause feature.

I like the look of the CD3434 but i like the plain/almost stock look MUCH better.

most of the time mcintosh will have zero features, be a dead head and cost 4 times what a comperable source unit will cost.

so unless you're a total squeer, that's way too much money for a daily driver....

review of it...shows a list of $1k...

1000 for a HU...negatory. Thanks :D

I farted in some A-holes Bently one time...It felt good :)

I got to see a McIntosh unit one time. It was a year or so ago. Guy said it was in the $1200 range...I tucked my tail and ran LOL!

0.004% THD, 112db s/n ratio, and Dual D/A Converters yum yum...

I'd rather have a P9 combo...can't see how anything much more is going to be worth it :)

And you need a remote which means the passenger cant screw anything up

Every time a piece of Mac gear comes up on Audiogon or Ebay, all the vultures move in and end up jacking the price beyond the realm of affordability (sp). It could have no tubes, a rusting chassis, missing an output transformer and catch fire and a MC 275 amp would still sell for $400. Just because of the name.

You can't tell me they sound that much better vs. something home built, using a superior output topology (because Mac's aren't single ended), that was constructed for a fraction of the price? Doesn't have the name that makes people go "Ahhhhhh", though.

what about that one on ICIX....?

i think its called a Ural CDD

i think its a foreign thing, and i think its only like $900, but that thing looks rediculously awesome.

EDIT: its only $650 thru ICIX, MSRP is $700

There isnt much past $1500

sony z50 for one...jsut over $3k i believe

and IIRC, there is a new pioneer unit coming out, retail close to $5k.

personally, i like the look of the mac, but would rather have a c90....

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

there are lots of HU's in the $1500+ range, just that most are not sold in the US ..... we're too cheap to buy that kinda stuff.
