Posted July 20, 200619 yr Hi everyone,If you are interested in seeing some test measurements of the MJ-18, you can go to the web link below. I took some frequency response curves and in-car SPL measurements.http://testbed.mach5audio.comBest regards,Mark
July 20, 200619 yr Need to get that on term lab in a more real-world install kids like to see numbers.
July 20, 200619 yr The MJ-18i meant the 12 with the cast basket and bad-ass looking motor. Edited July 20, 200619 yr by Adrian_D
July 20, 200619 yr Author The MJ-18<{POST_SNAPBACK}>i meant the 12 with the cast basket and bad-ass looking motor.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>That's an 'as yet unnamed' prototype sample that came in with one of the orders. looks interesting doesn't it? I'll post more info on it when I get the chance...Best regards,Mark

July 21, 200619 yr wow teh motor is taller than the basket lolkinda looks like a blueprint sub, except it only has double stacked magnets. i want one ! the mj-18 is 600wrms.

Is that a brand? They were definitely thinking underhung when they came up with this design. I calculated Xmax at 11mm given its voice coil length. If they had low distortion in mind, I'm sure they achived it with this unit...Best regards,Mark

July 22, 200619 yr y does everyone keep sayin 350rms then?on the main web site is says 600rms though.does it only come in 8 ohms?
July 24, 200619 yr Author Hi dj,Currently, it is only available in 8 Ohms. If there is enough interest / commitment, I will get a run of 4 Ohm units. You're right, the blueprints sure look similar.Best regards,Mark
July 24, 200619 yr Admin Mark,I am not sure if you have seen them before, but Group Buys have been successful in the past. It is a win win for both parties. The company (ie YOU) gets to move a large number of units at once, and the buyer gets a good product at a little discount. You don't have to just an idea. Also sqeak, a member here tried very hard to get a short run 18" model for the members here at SSA, but due to the cost from Adire, he was not able to do the minimum order. Maybe he might want to see about doing it with your 18.
July 24, 200619 yr ^^ I like ur thinking.Because i'll def buy some of the 18'sI just dont like the 8 ohm thing but i think 4 ohms would be perfect for my amp.. 8 in series is 4, so yea, that may work out..I'll keep my ear to this GB idea 1st though , lol
July 24, 200619 yr Author Yeah, a group buy would certainly be an option. If I can move these things before they take up permanent residence I'd be a happy DIYer.I received some prelimiary data on the proposed 15" unit to finish off the MAW line. Tell me what you guys think:MAW-15Fs = 24.6HzRe = 4 Ohm (both coils connected in series)Qms = 5.06Qes = 0.35Qts = 0.33Rms = 7.2kg/sCms = 0.18mm/NMms = 236.7grBl = 20.4SPL = 90.9 (geez why not just say 91)VAS = 190LLe = 2.41mH
July 24, 200619 yr Author Like the 12's... only bigger I'll shoot a picture up in the coming days...m
July 25, 200619 yr Also sqeak, a member here tried very hard to get a short run 18" model for the members here at SSA, but due to the cost from Adire, he was not able to do the minimum order. I'd still like to have that woofer built
July 25, 200619 yr What was the design? Perhaps I can help...http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...wtopic=4820&hl=Everything's in that thread....T/S specs, Bl & Kms curves as well as the motor design that would have been used and pics of what it would have looked like. Pretty much everything was done but having the proto built.....I really think that would have been one sweet IB driver.
