Posted July 24, 200619 yr Just bored...and in need of speakers for my bedroom system...why not build something.Meet the future of the circular saw...for someone like me that's a lazy ass when it comes to cutting a straight line freehand, this is the ultimate way to get spoiled. Comes with a metal guide fence that the saw slides into. The blade isn't fixed, so it does take some getting used to, but unlike a fixed blade you can drop it in the middle of a piece and cut a perfect edge, every time. This and the lovely Makita compound miter are going to be getting some use tomorrow
July 24, 200619 yr Author That's part of the reason why I hate doing projects up in my apartment, I can't borrow my dad's tools for it He found those at a woodworking show a couple years back...Festool is apparently a German company that makes a small line of pretty unique tools, direct sales only. The only US distributor is in CA, IIRC.That specific model was discontinued, but it was $325...we've also got a Festool jigsaw and sander, but those don't do anything too special. The jigsaw does have a magnetic blade attachment system that's pretty tits...although I'll probably use a scroll saw to do the speaker cutouts tomorrow. Just personal preference.
July 24, 200619 yr $325 but it makes a table saw almost moot.x2and jim..how does the guide stay in place? i didn't notice any clamps...and a link to the direct seller.....something is getting pawned for one of those...now to tie up the wife and take her to the pawn shop....muhahahahahhawheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
July 24, 200619 yr Author and jim..how does the guide stay in place? i didn't notice any clamps...and a link to the direct seller.....something is getting pawned for one of those...The underside of it has non-slip stuff on the bottom, does a decent job by itself, I guess you could add some bar clamps if you really wanted to make sure it wasn't going anywhere.http://www.festoolusa.com is the answer for your 2nd Q
