Posted August 4, 200619 yr im sure the SS is better, but for a little more or around the same, i can get the 4 power acoustik a3000db's. anyone mess with these? what kinda power do they do? its either 4 of those or 1 ss xxx10000. theres no way im gonna get 10k w outta it though becuase thats at 16v. im gonna be running 1 300a alt and most likely 4 odessey pc1700s. more if needed...opinions? or possibly hifonics maybe? how are the new model hifonics(the ones that are black) i remeber hearing lots of problems about the old ones like the bx1000d's that they would break...help a fellow out VJ
August 4, 200619 yr i had a 3000db and its a nice amp for the price.It obviously doesnt do 2400watts though.never messed wt soundstream.
August 4, 200619 yr a friend might be selling his maxximus.....it's hifonics, and it's 10kwrms...but he thinks it might be a few tenths down from his previous pair of strapped amps...hifonics isn't bad..lots of competitors run them, colossus and maxximus that is.....never messed with or heard of the SS...i'll ask james about it today....wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

August 5, 200619 yr 3k for an amp that retails for more then twice that...and it's a proven performer...and it's got like 5 burps on it...1k for a 10k amp? ok..lol...not saying your wrong, but comeon, when most companies charge close to that for their 1kwrms amps..do you really think a company charging 1k for 10kwrms will actually do it's power? if so, i'll have to get a couple considering the amp i want is 2.5kwrms and it's right at the same price.....wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
August 5, 200619 yr just did some searching....seems that the ss can be had for around $1500 and the maxx around $3600....i'll let him know and see if he adjusts the price....but i still find it hard to believe that amp, the ss, will do it's power when it's at that pricepoint. $1600 will get you a 4000d mojo at our store...kinda makes me wonder if the ss isn't modeled with it's peak power rating....wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
August 5, 200619 yr I'm almost sure that is the amp my GF's uncle uses, however he only claimed it did 10kw when he turned the regulator up to 17v.

August 6, 200619 yr next time I talk to the GF's uncle ill ask him exactly what amp he is running. I am pretty sure he said a sound stream something, 10kw when he turns the regualtor up to 17v.

August 7, 200619 yr Author everyone that ive talked to thats had one/has one tells me itll do about 10k @ 16-17v...the rating IS 10k w rms @ 16v...i dont know if any of you know Tuan? (Toxic Tuan) but hes got one and says on a good 12v system itll do about 8k w rms @ 1 ohm...i mean on ebay the amp is 2200, im just getting it for 1000...also i know shawn flemming's friend Mike, the guy with the yukon and 4 18" mts runs 2 soundstream xxx 6500's on his mts...i dont know...lol
August 8, 200619 yr james says he knows people are getting good scores outa the 6500's, but doesn't know of anyone running the 10k. basicly what he's said is it's a good amp, but he dunno if it would be good for a daily driver as it's efficiency might not be great. i guess if your electrical system is up to par, it would work pretty good, but without that, your throwing away money as you won't be able to use it to it's full potential.i'd say it's a good buy for 1k and the potential to produce 8kwrms....better then anything going that i know of...fo rthe money.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
August 8, 200619 yr Author how would running a 16v system work daily? i plan on running dual alts either way, even if i stay 12v, would it be a good idea to run my 2nd at and batts at 16v so this amp can produce a big amount of power?opinions?how would i go about doing this?VJ
August 8, 200619 yr If you ran a seperate 16v system just for your amps that would be fine. Running the rest of the vehilce designed for a 11-15v tollerance at 16-18v probably wouldnt be the best idea.
August 8, 200619 yr Author Oh I know, I'm gonna keep my stock alt and redtop for the starter batt and the car itself, and run a 16v alt and batts for the SS...I just can't pass up 1k for this amp, brand new in the box...What all do I need to accomplish this 16v system, and to keep it charged properly for daily use? Are the 16v turbostarts good batts? I can get 4 for 150 shipped each, in mint condition, and I can prally talk him down too...what other 16v batts are there?Thanks for all the help so far guys...I really like this site, you've been helpful except when u flame all my mids and highs hahaha!VJ
August 8, 200619 yr You'll need 16v batteries (I dont know hat 16v batteries are good batteries) and either a 16v alternator or an alternator with an external regulator.
August 8, 200619 yr Author isnt the regulator to switch from 12v to 16v when u want? like ur gf's uncle? i want to be able to drive and use the 16v system at the same time...i guess the 16v alt would be the best solution? i emailed knukonceptz about a 16v alt...they havent replied yet about that...i dont know if anyones tried their alts yet either, but i know ppl like all their other products so im assuming they make good alts as well...
August 8, 200619 yr The regulator is to regulate the voltage. It is adjustable. When he isnt compeating he runs the amp and the rest of the car at 12v.
