I got my RL-p 15 metered in a ported box running it with about 800 watts and I hit 146.3, which is above my goal but not enoguh for me competition wise. So I was thinking about getting 4 or 5 Assasin 8's for competition. Only problem is that I have a ED 9.1 amp, and it only goes to 1 ohm, the speaekrs would be wired parallel and that would give them .8 ohms. I'm guessing it would be ok to run this on that amp because the wires and everything would bring it to a grand total of over 1 ohm right? Also, would five 8's be overkill? Should I just stick with 4 instead? Thanks alot.

can you fit another RL-p?

I have noticed in the SPL scene ..... you gotta be hittin 150+ to even be competitive these days

When i looked at the standings for just USA in Street B for DB Drag, you gotta be over 150 to be in the top 30, and that is just in the USA. Street A is easier(well duhh) and so is Street C for some reason. Single 15" or Dual 12" i would say are one of the most common setups right now.

depends on the class and how far you want to go

street A has had some serious numbers put up in the past year, I would not want to go up against those guys sending gobs of power to a pair of crazy 10s in some horn box

I'm not sure what meter it was, I meant to find that out before I left but I forgot. The car was a Acura Integra, with loads of sound deadening. I think I should be able to hit over 150 with four or five eights, I just dont know what to go with :( I will be in the IASCA competition, they class differently than DB drag I believe.. I signed up for the Stock pro class, I woulda signed up for the Stock class, but I didn't have the recipts for my products. The comp I scored 146.3 in was a local comp, I'm guessing it was probably a Audiocontrol meter, but I'm not sure.

street C easy? you have to be dancing on 160's door step to win in anything past a smalle 1x competition.

street a is about to get harder as well..lol...and it's no horn enclosure. hehe..

and if all goes well, i'll be in street b next year....muhahahhahaha

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

every year I plan for Street C, but every year something comes up and I cannot afford it :(

I decided to go with four 8's instead of 5 because a highly experienced friend told me .8 ohms would probably hurt my amp. I didn't think .2 ohms would make much of a difference but I guess it does, don't wanna risk it.

after impeadance rise you will be nowhere near .8ohm

;)

either way I might be able to get you some more SPL oriented 8's for near the price of the assasins.

You got PM back.

actually terry brocks runs a bandpass... a pair of DD 10"s he had soloX 10"s but the DD's are a hair louder in his install, last time I talked to him at least.. and alot of guys do good with standard ported boxes, in fact, I have yet to see anyone do a serious number with a horn or TL type box... they're overrated imo. TB was the WR holder for a while street A and is always putting up qualifiying numbers for the top 3 I believe in the world. Dave louisiana crx holds the title for usaci street beat 1 with a pair of DD 10"s 3510's as a matter of fact, and he does over 150 rolling average on music for 30 seconds and doesn't use a horn or transmission line box... a custom ported box would probably be his answer if you asked him lol. ;)
