I sold my eclipse cd8445, so as of now I'm without a hu. I was gonna get the 780mp but most people say the 880prs has so many more features. The 880 is like 300 give or take a few bucks on ebay I believe...now...I know the carputer will be more money, but I've wanted to have one for a while now, and I'm thinking...why buy a 300 dollar hu, and then in a year or 6 months replace it with a carputer? How would this work with my setup? Would it sound as good as the 880? Basically I want It becuase I have like 30 gigs of songs on my pc, so I can just play them from the hd instead of having multiple cds. What do you guys think I should do? If I do the computer, its not gonna be slow...I'm gonna get like 1gig of ram, a 250gb hd, etc. Plus I have my blackberry, and can plug it into my USB port and it let's me have access to the internet. Its not fast enough for downloading, but great for forums and email and AIM, stuff like that.

Anyways, give me some ideas guys.

Thanks

VJ

Because you are running an independant voltage system for oyur amps a carputer could work out great for you. :)

Just a heads up, large touch screen if you plan on burping with the carputer. People say it is rather hard to hit a pause button on a touch screen with loud burps.

If you need any help or have any questions let me know.

Well ima plan out the parts I'm gonna order...would I need to get a good sound card or what? And I'm getting a 10" touchscreen vga monitor

VGA simply means it uses a VGA cable. (12-15 pin depending on what is needed). That means it uses the same connections as what your computer monitor uses. Really the only way to have a touch screen only using one cable.

10" should be fine if you use a program with a big 'button'

As far as sound cards go, you dont have to get the absolute best, but I would reccomend a higher end one. I'm sure there are soundcards that have RCA outputs also, which is really all you need. You mostly want a card with good output quality, input is something you dont really care about because you will have USB/FireWire for other assesories.

Where do you planning on mounting your monitor? Glassing it into the dash or perhaps the center concil. :woot:

Actually the new plan now is to get an 18" lcd with vga outputs(I guess?) Its gonna be glassed in the dash, I'm gonna try and order some of the stuff tonite including the monitor :-)
