In my latest shipment I received two 'next-gen' 18" protos. The build quality on them is very good, and should make a few folks happy. The Xmax is 27mm but the T/S specs on them are a bit shy of my target, so I am not going to post them here until I speak to the OEM. Here are some shots:

Nice to see an integrated gasket on the fron as opposed to the normal rubber trim ring. Would be nice to see a rubber or synthetic here also, but with budget in mind, the paper/cork/foam does the job at less cost. I wish more manufacturers would integrate this.

I must say, the basket and motor look very nice on that thing.

Can't say I'm a fan of those foam surrounds though.

thats the same thing im wondering. If these new 18's are cheap enough i would get 4 of them for my astro.

i call dibbs on the first proto to be sold. i have a sweet idea for a HT setup and an 18" is perfect, plus i want to try M5A, plus i always wanted a proto

Looking forward to seeing what the T/S parameters are for this driver. Hopefully it will model well for home theater. 2 of these would be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. Just got the confirmed numbers. Here you go, along with a low-res shot. It will be called IXL-18.4:

Fs = 15.4Hz

Re = 3.2Ohm

Qms = 4.87

Qes = 0.39

Qts = 0.36

Vas = 556L

Sd = 1029.2cm

BL = 15.1

Mms = 228g

Cms = 0.37mm

SPL = 89.2

There will also be smaller models using the same bottomless motor.

does the .4 at the end mean it will be a SVC 4 ohm? If so, are you sonsidering DVC 4 ohm? thatd be nice for car audio, if this woofer will be suitable for it. It looks awesome though
