800w @1ohm and the sub would be sealed, flatwind doesn't seem neccessary. also thinking about a Q10 ported because i've always had a thing for single ported 10's. going behind the seat of a reg cab Ram, would have around 1-1.25ft sealed, or up to 1.25 net ported.

I like the SSDs sealed. Im running (2) standard 10s right now. The copper coils will drop a little deeper than the standard versions. I have about 800W to each and they can really get going when pushed. But I dont push them that much. I think they are a solid little sub that sounds great. As Ive said elsewhere... I do have my pick of Fi subs, or any sub I really feel like making/machining... and Im more than happy with the SSD 10s sealed.

Sealed Id look from .5 - 1.25 cuft depending on coil choice and desired Qtc.

The SSD12 sealed would have more output vs the Q10 in the upper region... and the Q10 from about 25 to 50 (given a standard 32 hz tuning).

so you are going to make this more difficult huh? :) i'm definitely a sucker for output so i'll probably save up for the Q10.

but i do hate the rolloff from ported boxes so now i'm really stuck.

editx2: gonna go with the sealed SSD 12 copper coil, dual 2.

Same as me, just ordered today. :) Going with Neil's suggestion of 1.1 cubes sealed, should be fan-freakin-tastic.

I have :) lol

Avalanche is a solid sub with more Xmax than the SSD. It does have a shorter coil and less power handling thermally... but with 800W, it should do fine. If it is in mint condition, Id probably pick that up. Reconed AVAs to 18s go for an arm and a leg on the AV forums... So at worst case its a decent investment and you now have a good SQ sub.

Thanks,

Scott
