Posted March 4, 200718 yr I have a set of older Akai home speakers and the 10" subs are gone, the rubber surrounds are gone. I want to improve the sound, but am not looking to spend to the point of buying a complete speaker(box/sub/tweeter etc.). Where can I get replacement 8ohm speakers for them? I've tried looking around on the web, but so far am finding "speakers" meaning the whole speaker box(and speakers with it), I'm just looking to replace the subs. I've tried searches with "home speakers/diy/speakers/etc....I'm located in Burlington-Oakville Ontario area. PS: I'm not a stereophile by any stretch of the imagination as you can tell, nevertheless would appreciate anyone's help. Edited March 4, 200718 yr by SikSS
March 4, 200718 yr Author mach5 maw-10.Nice choice, I just ordered a MAW-12 for my car. However, my amp's an old one an only pushes 40RMS. The sub currently are in the 15w range. I'm looking for something that might match at 40 plus watts. Thanks, and sorry I should have been more specific.
March 4, 200718 yr no worries. PE or Madisound have 10inch woofers available. try looking on their site to see what you can find. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=295-368i guess the maw-10 could work with that little power. imo it depends on tastes.do you plan on using them in a 3-way cabinet ?

Might be just fine unless you know of something in Ontario. Thanks for your help so far!
March 5, 200718 yr Author http://www.creativesound.caThey might have something that'll work...Thanks RIckRolled but there doesn't seem to be any low watt 10" subs(up to 50w) on this site. I'll keep looking over the next week or so. If I can't find anything, I'll have to replace them completely. Would be shame, they're in a nice all wooden speakerbox which is extremely well built.
March 5, 200718 yr Just because a driver is rated for a higher value doesn't mean they won't work with a lower power amp...
March 8, 200718 yr Admin If the shiva is mentioned, I have to add the Mach5Audio MJ-18. Heck of a sub, with good sound quality, and strong out put without needing tons of power, oh not to mention its less than $100.
