Posted March 5, 200718 yr what are the pros&cons of 1 spider vs 2,stiff , compliant etc? I noticed the Q's have two spiders,BL's have three,BTL's have four. Please explain,I want some details thanks!
March 5, 200718 yr mechanical power handling...and things such as Fs and Vas..single spider 18Q = home theater use with ~700-750 watts at most to get to full excursion IB.basic idea with car audio is to overbuild things because they tend to see more abuse then in a home or other atomosphere

March 6, 200718 yr The 18Q does have 2 spiders. But, when we modify them for home theater IB use, we only use 1 spider on them. All of our subs use 2 or more spiders for mechanical durability. Making 1 spider as stiff as 4 will crack and break. It is better to use multiple thinner/more compliant spiders to achieve the same desired compliance.Thanks,Scott
