Posted March 4, 20205 yr Build details : 99 Tahoe 6 zv4 15s D1 mega roll cones 2 taramps md 12k’s @ .67 ohms dual 270 alts / 135ah cmax full fiber glass cab, box sealed to cab with fiber glass, stripper pole ect ect I’m torn between a 6th and a 4th order wall with this one. I’m told the zv4 do well in a 4th but really wanted to do a 6th tuned to 25/50hz with 4 6” aero ports in the rear and square port up front The plan is loud and windy however my concern is that I’m estimating to clamp 20k or more out of the amps is my general guess (which could be wrong) and throwing that much power at the subs in a 6th will have them slappin like hell. I plan to under size the bottom chamber to 3.5 cubes per sub to compensate for the power, 2:1 ratio basically I’m here to see what everyone thinks and open to think that maybe someone will give valid reason to do a 4th not a 6th (reason I want a 6th is for the lows and wind) Edited March 4, 20205 yr by RedHoe
March 4, 20205 yr Welcome to the forum. You won't find anyone here that will recommend a bandpass. Sorry.

I’m interested in opinions or advise because I’m putting 3300+/- watts on each sub for 1 and I’ve read the zv4 subs like 4th orders however I want to do a 6th build mess hoping someone could talk me into one of the 2 because I’m torn between the decision
March 6, 20205 yr But WHY do you want to do a 6th order bandpass? Or bandpass in the first place? What are the benefits you are gaining from that enclosure?

Bandwidth and wind. mainly the wind but the plan is to flat wall it in a year or 2 I just wanna do a 4th or 6th to say I did it really get windy and low for a bit then chase numbers on the meter once I’m ready to flat wall it
March 7, 20205 yr A bandpass is nothing more than a mechanical filter. You can replicate the same results with a crossover network and a simple enclosure.

Save the headache of doing multiple setups for no reason. As said above use a low pass crossover to set your upper limit on the bandpass you're using them for. And there are tons of methods of setting it up so that you can switch the port up later.
