I need to update my double din head unit and looking for some recommendations from experienced people. I have used Alpine iLX-207 which offered me 7 inches touch screen which was easy for me to access all features. The most great thing for me about this head unit is that I can  easily manage the system via the screen or from the steering wheel to use Apple Car Play or Android Auto.

But recently it stopped working and just showing the dark screen (as its very long I have not upgraded it). Now I am thinking of upgrading it rather than repairing. I have check out few reviews and got various recommendations from few people. I am impressed with this review: https://speakershunter.com/best-double-din-head-units/

Please share your experience if you have used any double din head units before. I will be thankful to everyone. I am interested in Pioneer, Bose Audio, JVC. Let me know if there are more good brands available.

There are a few things to be considered before getting a double DIN head unit. First of all the technology. Make sure the head unit you are getting is included with the modern technology like: Bluetooth, hands free calling, audio steaming, USB/AM/FM available. Also the audio quality the head unit provide must be high quality so that the speakers can perform well. Also make sure your stereo system is allowed GPS, high quality video and lot more.

I like the service of Pioneer more than any other. It is one of the best brand that provides you with large number of head units, and other products that are made especially for making your car the best than any other’s.

The review is really helpful. Thanks for sharing.

I honestly think Kenwood has the best offerings currently. I think wireless Apple CarPlay is sweet and worth the premium (my wife loves it). If you don’t want wireless CarPlay/Android Auto then I would get the Kenwood Excelon DMX706s. If so, I’d jump to the 907s or 8906s

Thanks for the recommendation. What do you think about Pioneer AVH series?

  • 1 month later...

I just saw this notification. I honestly don’t have any experience with the AVH series but my guess is it’s pretty solid.

I had an AVH 5600 (IIRC) : everything I needed and more.

I have absolutely no complaint about it. If I could easily change the stock one in my car, I would buy another Pioneer, or a Kenwood (as I see people love them more and more).
