Posted March 9, 200718 yr I wanna know when you are supposed to re cone a sub woofer ??Is it kinda just a feel kinda thing like pushing it up down and guessing if it is to loose or to go on guessing how many hours the sub has been played.
March 9, 200718 yr you recone when there is mechanical damage. burnt coil, mis-aligned coil, ripped surround / spider, damaged cone.
March 10, 200718 yr No damage. I am going to attemp to disaasemble the woofer with zero affect on any moving assembly pieces.
March 15, 200718 yr Author Thanks for the replies, I did a little searching on the net and found thishttp://colomar.com/Shavano/recone.htmlwhile it pertains to pro audio speakers i figured it would fit in.Tirefry it is not easy to do i tried it once with an old blown sub. It was especially hard around the surround strong glue and delicate material.
March 17, 200718 yr It is also a good option if you swap vehicles and the woofer you have is too big. Can be cheaper pending on the price of the woofer and recone.
