Posted March 15, 200718 yr Admin Before the great data loss of '07, I had a topic that I was daily tracking the alexa traffic ranking of main domain of SSA. As of today the number is the best since I had alexa track our ranking. We are currently sitting at: 978,558before the upgrade we were hovering in the upper 99x,xxx to 115,xxx range. The closer to 1 the better.
March 15, 200718 yr And for SSA, it is more meaningful traffic as well. For example, if a rush of people come to the site all at once after being linked from a larger site, that increases your traffic in the short term. But is that helpful over a long period of time? Not really. Several studies have indicated that "swarm" traffic is not a good thing, but consistent growth is great.I look forward to better and better results here.

March 20, 200718 yr Author Admin Something about keeping the website afloat and not steering it towards financial ruin.
April 11, 200718 yr Hopefully. For what it's worth, this is the most active forum I have seen for the number of registered members that are here.

It's more valuable traffic. 10,000 members who hog server bandwidth and provide zero capital (whether that is of a knowledge or financial basis) are worth very little. I mean, digg.com is a perfect example of this: they are closing in on a million members and are a top 100 site on Alexa. However, their membership has high churn and the majority provide little value to the website; as such, they are still unable to get into the black. Their server bills are huge. For the Diggnation podcast, CacheFly streams 25TB per week for them.
