well, as you know SSA is now a mach5 distributor. Right now i have 2 infinity perfect 12.1's. I was planning on doing these with a ported box, but the more i read, the more id like to try a mach 5 maw15. The maw would cost a little more, because i can probably only get about 80 or so for the pair of perfects. I have one sealed in my car now with 300 watts, but its not loud at all, and i would just be worried about the output. I know this is the mach5 forums and may be a little biased, but most\ of the mach 5 knowledge comes from here. So i ask you, keep the perfects and go ported with about 700-800 watts, or do one maw15 ported with about as much as it can handle?

thanks for any help

Us biased? Nawwww... ;)

Personally, I'd keep the 12's and install them as you planned. You have them now, why dump them? If you're not satisfied, you can always go to plan B at any time.

Best,

Mark

I usually say, build a new box before you buy. Damn it I am a lousey salesman. ;)

haha. well i guess it would make sense. If im not satisfied I could sell them. I just wanted to support an awesome campant, and the box would be smaller and leave room for an amp rack of some sort, and it would leave room for upgrading, but well see how the infinity's work out. Im just waiting for the first warm weekend to build one. I cant wait, i got a bunch of new clamps, a new blade, new upspiral bit to test out :) should be fun.

Yea, I personally would go with the Maw-15, but I wouldn't have bought the perfects in the first place.

But yea, build a box for em and see if you like em. If not then toss em and grab a Maw. Don't be too lazy to try em out first.

The maw will be louder than the perfects, but i say coming from someone with a maw 15" try to port your subs first. it may be what you are looking for, if not you are only out the cost of wood.

than try a maw.

I'd build a box first too, but I also cannot say that I have heard an installation of those Perfects that I actually liked.
I would have to agree. It's always cheaper to build a new box, but I have never been happy with the outcome of those perfects either. You have them already. You might as well get the max out of them that you can. :fing34:

Yea i guess. My original plan was 4 sealed, but i got a new car and no room for all. I already sold two. I guess ill just try them ported. See how it sounds.

The perfect's should handle the power a bit better, but about 400 watts RMS a piece is their limit.

However, the perfect's might not work as well in a 3.0-3.5cf ported box as the MAW15 would, so the MAW could be at an advantage there.

well, now i really dont know. THe amp i planned on getting for comps got sold, so im not sure what to do. I can spend about 200 on subs, possibly 2 MAW15's sealed, and save up for comps and an amp later. Or I can sacrifice the quality of each(comps and subs) and get both. I just dont really want to upgrade later, so you know. What do you think? I have about $200 and 1400 watts @ 1 ohm. hmmmm...
