Posted March 30, 200718 yr Today I met a guy (goes buy oldschool on termpro) who does like 155.9 with two twelves in db drag.Well personally I wouldnt want to compete with him *street b* so i was looking at doing a street a setup but i have heard that the 10" btl's are not musical that they are just for burps only.So a few questions:1> How musical are they???2> How much power can they handle??? (looking @ 2000 watts right now)3>Would doing one 12, or 3 8" be better???
March 30, 200718 yr Will depend on your listening habits and what you consider "musical" But they're more versatile than a burp-only woofer.
March 30, 200718 yr If you intend on playing music we simply will not build you one....if you plan on farting in a crx box sure...that is their only purpose.
March 30, 200718 yr Author currently negotiating with an amplifier company about doing comps for spl, I have no problem buying a burp woofer, it just means that i will be building multiple boxes and buying even more fi subs
March 30, 200718 yr I think he was kidding. I've seen a couple of guys say that they sound pretty decent.
March 30, 200718 yr I think he was kidding. I've seen a couple of guys say that they sound pretty decent.Nick wasn't kiddingthe 10" BTLs don't do daily music
March 30, 200718 yr that's what they said about soloxs too......they play music just fine. now, i know they are completely different woofers, all i'm saying is that there have been "burp only" woofers before the btl, and most of those have ended up in DDs doing what everyone said they couldn't do, and that's playing music.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
March 30, 200718 yr I think he was kidding. I've seen a couple of guys say that they sound pretty decent.Nope not kidding ...we simply won't build one..the cone will slam into the basket/spiders and bad things will happen. Burping..its fine, music = bad news bears.
March 31, 200718 yr Well... yes and a little bit of no I will not build a fully loaded BTL 10" for any reason, but a standard 2 magnet with the standard coil can be done for daily. In fact, using the daily tolerences for the 10" in a Street A class will gain over a 3rd magnet BTL with SPL tolerences. Scrubbing off a little motor strength is not a bad thing with the BTLs in Street A,B or C.I can tweak things a little to make them useful for daily drivers, but this is only after a fair amount of experimenting (same reason I didnt originally offer a Q10" until I had plenty of time to tweak things). The BTL10s take a few tweaks to them to make them daily drivers... I have overcome some of the geometry issues. But as far as a fully loaded BTL 10"... that one will never see production.Hope I didnt confuse things more Thanks...Scott
March 31, 200718 yr Author hey scott, how much would it be for a pair of 10" btl's built for street a, with dual .8 ohm voice coils (so i can run them at .4 ohms each)...you can email me a quote or pm it if its easiermy email is[email protected]
April 1, 200718 yr Author scott nick or sean, is it possible to get the btl 10 in dual .8 ohm voice coils??? I'm using them strictly for street a burping.
April 1, 200718 yr We've got .75's...that's close enough with those amps so long that you use your head while doing so.
April 1, 200718 yr Author bump for the price on .75 ohm coils? That is the dual 1 no additional cost.wise ass's, what options would you recommend for street A, currently each one will be seeing 2200 ish watts, later on when the 3000d comes out they will be seeing 4400 ish watts each.
April 1, 200718 yr Author cool, just let me get my sundown amps in first, than the subs will followI hate having loan payments, what i pay in loans every month would equal a new fully loaded 12" BTL
