April 4, 200718 yr Damn that's a sweet looking sub, what size is that? also I know it's a SPL sub but does it have decent SQ as well? I am just asking becuase I am very interested..Thanks Justin
April 4, 200718 yr Author Admin That is the 12", I will be doing subject SQ listening tests starting tonight. It going to be screwy because I have had such a variety of different subs in my truck in the last month its not funny.Eclipse Aluminum, good sound fairly accurate, great output for a 10,Mach5 MJ-18, good clean finesse driver that onces broken in came alive.SSA proto, good DD sub, the more is breaks in the more brutal the output isNow this monster...
April 4, 200718 yr Ahhh....Now I see. I never noticed the two piece mounting flange before. Intresting.Get the listening tests underway! Edited April 4, 200718 yr by Puggsley456
April 4, 200718 yr Cool, Any prices yet? please keep us updated as the subs breaks-in and let us know about the SQ as well..Thanks Justin
April 5, 200718 yr Author Admin Ok so I had some decent expectations for this sub, (and yes I know its way way too soon to make any judgement calls or opinions) but just for shiggles this morning on the way to work, I turned to the local baltimore hip hop station and they were playing Freak-a-leek by Peete Pablo. :o :o :oLet me say this, the out put of this sub (in a box too small and tuned far too low, 2.0 @27hz) is unreal, almost to the point of uncomfortable. And it is getting a little less than 1200 watts (did not have time to correctly set the gain in the dark of the night last night). I cant wait to try this beast at 1 ohm on the Orion. I am not the SPL pro, the output testing was loyds portion, my job is to discern if this monster can be listened to everyday under normal set ups.

April 5, 200718 yr What kind of cone Surround is that? I can't really make it out almost looks like a strong foam or a very thick rubber.. Anyway from what I've read this far I am liking this thing, I love the way the frame looks might have to mount it so it's inverted..Justin
April 5, 200718 yr Cool, I am really interested in that sub. Is there any prices yet? and also please keep us updated on any progress..Thanks Justin
April 10, 200718 yr Author Admin I have put more listening time on it and it is breaking in. Small problem though, I had Stankonia in my Eclipse 55430 and during a few low notes, the deck just stopped and flashed "info 03".I looked it up and that is the error for a dirty disk, so I tried a few others and no luck. Last night, pulled the battery power and reset the deck, still no luck. So at the moment I cannot play CD's. But like I said to Mark, for most listening needs (in a 2.0 cube box, it should be in at least 2.5) with about 1100 watts, this does better than expected for normal music. The output when pushed is flat out nutty, but once in that state my ears go into FU mode and clarity is lost.I want to build a new box for this to make an attempt at Street A and throw all 2500watts or so at it and hope for the best.
April 10, 200718 yr Author Admin Output/SQ wise.....what would you compare it to?Output wise, it has a little more force than my Orion H2, but maybe not quite the clarity. But keep in mind this is just a prototype and it has less than 10 hours test time.
April 12, 200718 yr Author Admin The Q is a HQ SQ sub. This beast is not meant to have the sharp clarity of the Q, it is meant to be an all out, shake the bolts loose, SPL sub. But for an all out SPL sub, it does have the usability to be in a daily install when tuned low to keep its response smooth and not peaky.
