Enclosure glassed & ready for the back to be put on it...

Inside:

4-5 layers of matt

layer of bondo-glass mixed with resin & applied with a paint brush.

Coated in 2 layers of rubber undercoating.

Outside

2 applications of bondo mixed with resin & applied with a paint brush

Sand, sand, sand, sand. Good thing I'm covering, not painting... because I don't like sanding

Bought 2lbs of polyfill, need some gasket tape, sell this XT2000d & get more 4 ohm power, and cover this thing...

Thoughts on what I should use to cover? I was thinking charcoal coloured micro fibre.

Looks good, did you mention the enclosure size?

  • Admin

It will still do well and sound good from my experience.

Purchased the PDX1.600 today & installed it:

Also, I found another one of those air struts, so I'm going to double up on them & hope it helps lift the lid a touch.

Also purchased a Sony XM-250 for $20 to run the tweets until I can afford the PDX2.150 to complete the stack.

Doing a little more finishing to the enclosure & starting the front end installation this weekend & next week.

OK, after almost a month, I have more updates....

Drivers side door pod in progress....

Duct tape is the only thing that would stick... and its strong enough to make the mold with too.

The mold completed.

I am just waiting for it to completely cure, then Saturday I'll get the passenger side done (wedding to attend tomorrow).

Tolerances are tight around the protrusion for the woofer, so it has be 'glassed from the inside.

Just need to do some finishing & adjust the gapping with the doorpanel. I have also cut a hole in the rear of the pod for it to be IB into the door as well.

FYI. Finishing the door pods in black fake suede & the bottom of the doors in black vinyl. The top of the doors are already done in black vinyl from factory.

Also, figured I might as well throw up pics of the new 15" I received friday. Perfect driver for my IB needs.

I just realized I haven't owned a subwoofer with a logo on it since I sold my Type R 3 years ago lol

  • Author

Yes, I was, briefly lol

Just was cleaning up my edges on this pod & making the gap uniform with the door panel. Need to do some sanding still :(

Sunny & 72F tomorrow, so door pod #2 will be started.

Neil, they are mounted to the door via some 1/2" bolts & nuts. Solid as hell.

Completed driver's side door pod:

Pictured with the kick, kick needs some more filler:

DSC00366.jpg

Kick is sized large in case I want to step up to a larger midrange than 3".

Passenger side door work I did a week ago:

I might just goo-gone the bottom of the door plastic & leave as is instead of covering it.

Ya... midbass ftmfw

Kick panel is done too.. just waiting for that mdf ring I made to dry (painted black) & it I'll get a picture.

I get to Regina every couple of months too... once it is done demos will be done.
