I just installed my maw-15's. And they sound great. But I know alot of you say i must break them in. How long will that take? And how would you recommend breaking em in? I usually just play at half volume, but once in a while turn it up about max then turn it down after a few seconds. I do this for about a week and then start giving the sub alot of power constantly. I get carried away sometimes and just want to give the subs max power. I have a problem lol. will giving it a good amount of power once in a while, damage the future performance of the sub? Any tips on breaking in? And is the after math after breaking them in really that dramatic?

And anyone wondering if they should buy the maw-15. I highly reccomend it. I went from 2 15's sealed, and the sound is way louder, clearer, cleaner, deeper and punchier then my old 12 inch ported. or maybe the ported box i built just sucked haha. GREAT SUB and cant beat the price with a baseball bat.

The more you exercise the suspension the faster it will break in. No reason to do anything you wouldn't normally do...as long as you set the gains responsibly and are smart about things. So my tips are play away young man, you cannot hurt it at all.

I agree with Sean, the MJ-18 took a little while but it was worth it.

Everytime I get a new driver, I move the cone up and down as far as feel it's safe to, then I go in with my fingers and exercise the spider until it doesnt make that "crackly" "new spider" kinda sound. Break-in done.

Then I crank the %&*# out of it, IE: normal listening levels ;)

Unless there's something specific to the various glue's curing properly, there's really no "break in" required, unlike a car.

I never move the cone with my hands. Some gaps are tighter than others, and if you move the cone unbalanced with your hands, you can scrape the coil.

I wire them up, play at a low level & listen to the subwoofer for any noises. If all good, I stop thinking about it, and play.

Since the OP originally had played everything fine, I consciously skipped that step here but it is real good to note. Always listen first and turn her up slow, but wang away as soon as you like.
