Posted April 19, 200718 yr I'm at a crossroads. I just effed up the box I'd been working on for my older XXX 12 so before I start on a new box I figured I'd get some opinions. I'm redoing the system for the 2nd time. The front stage is purchased: the CDT ES-02s are here and the ES-06+s are on their way. My options for power on them are a 225 HCCA bridged on each midbass and a 225 in stereo to the mid/tweets or the Son of Frank running the whole setup. Probably go with the latter for simplicity and because the amp is awesome. The dilema is with the sub stage. Right now I have the '03 XXX 12 in D2 config, a trio of 10W6s and a quartet of Assassin 8s at my disposal. For power I have a PG MS-2125 or a HCCA 2100 (that I'm not really willing to run @ 1 ohm). I'm thinking about getting some new gear for one or the other though. Going that route I would either get a pair of Fi SSd 10s in D2 config and run them on the 2100 @ 2 ohms or get a SAZ-1500D and go with the XXX or Assassins. My system goals are SQ. The subs will be crossed in the 60Hz range and I want a nice full bottom end (which is why I'm leaning toward the XXX out of the subs I have currently). Obviously with the kind of power I'm looking at it will be able to get pretty loud, too but that isn't the primary focus. I listen to everything, rock, jazz, country, a bit of rap, classical, everything. The subs will be in a low tuned ported box built to spec, which is why I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do, so I can start building the box. I'm sick of not having a stereo in the car and I have some time to work.Ideas, suggestions, anything I didn't think of.I'm leaning toward the amp...
April 19, 200718 yr I would get the amp... I love my sundown Saz-1500d, and in general amps last longer than subs.
April 19, 200718 yr Author and in general amps last longer than subs.I have subs from '92. I'm very careful with my stuff.
April 20, 200718 yr both... ohh wait... Sub. And then you realised that you need an amp anyway to power your sub so you will buy an amp later.

April 20, 200718 yr Admin Which ever you decide, AA sub or Sundown amp, I will help you on price for sure. There is also the Miniliths, but they don't put out as much power. But the SSD's are a great choice, shame you are looking at 10's since the ICON will not start out with a 10".
April 20, 200718 yr Author Unless someone comes up with a really convincing argument for some other course of action here in about the next 2.5 hours, I'll be going with the SAZ. I'll drop you PM when the time comes, denim.that older XXX is a never sell sub I would think.I think you would be quite right on that.
