Posted April 24, 200718 yr Whats the recomended sealed enclosure for an mli-65 for HT use, how about ported? Id like to make some kind of towers using 3 or 4 of these and a large format tweet, any ideas on that? How much power do they like per mli-65 for HT use? Any suggestions about this idea.
April 25, 200718 yr Just playing around with WinISD, it looks like putting 4 MLIs in a 2.4 cu ft enclosure tuned to 42 Hz would work pretty well.
April 26, 200718 yr As per above, I would suggest at least 0.5 cubes per unit. Sealed, they seem restrained, but if you simply drill a hole in the back of the enclosure the midbass comes alive.I will be posting more info on this once I do the testing...Best,Mark
April 26, 200718 yr Author Interesting. I was thinking of this for a summer project, but we'll see what you find out first.

May 2, 200718 yr Author Yes, a port without a tube.what would that be tuned to ? it could be kind of like an IB effect.
May 3, 200718 yr Yea, I read somewhere that the MLI-65s work very well in an aperiodic box.I just threw one of mine in a 0.3cuft box to see how it does, and I can see what you mean by the "seem restrained" but then again, it's a really small box.I just wanted to see what they were like, because I don't want them to be too big.
May 8, 200718 yr I put a pair in the rear deck of a friends 99 accord sedan, they did well, but desperately need a highpass filter on them to control overexcursion. I could see them doing very well running 50-90hz though, with at an 18db/octave slope.
May 12, 200718 yr More like aperiodic - a bit of light stuffing in the hole.what?I pulled together a quick page which goes over the concepts of an Aperiodic Speaker Enclosure. Cheers,Gio.
