thanx to you guys i now have box plans for a 12" magnum d2 in a 2.65^3 box before displacements tuned to 28hz using two 4"x40.5" aero ports

two questions tho, would the 500/1 be enough get the d2 moving? also, how much more sound will i get out of it if i used a higher power amp?

thanx

Tom

If you're going to spend that much money on an amplifier I would look into the amplifiers that a lot of our customers use on this forum - HiFonics bx1000, PG ti 1200, Viper 1200d, etc. They're easily over double the amount of power and they can be found for the same price as the 500/1...if not lower.

However, 500 watts will be plenty on a Magnum. ...1000+ is just soo much more fun though. :D

I heard a kicker dx700 on a ported one (34hz) with only 350 watts and it was still decently loud and sounded great.

Car Audio and Electronics bench tested the Visonik V2000T to do 1250-watts RMS @ 4 ohms... I have a pair of them awaiting my new woofer. Haven't had a chance to use them in high power yet, but the bench test speaks well for them. I'll update the forum once I get everything lined out... which could be a while. But you may still see some of these on ebay going pretty cheap.

Also... the V800XD and V900XD from Visonik are great amps. I bought a V800XD about two years ago when I had a Brahma 15, then sold it to my friend (who could break an anvil with a sponge) and the amp is still going strong. I highly recommend these. Prices are good on ebay as well. FYI, Team Sick Bastard did a 169.9dB with 16 of the V900XD amps 2 years ago at an nSPL show I attended... from what I understand they didn't blow a single amp all season.

well im poor so ill stick with the 500/1 i already have (i found it for a deal like 6 months ago i couldnt refuse) and switch it out later

thanx

Tom

yeah 500w will definitely get this sub going VERy well. Later if you get an ich for more SPL all you gotta do is get a bigger amp and you'll have plenty of sub left to take probably 4 times that power.

All I know is at 500w you probably won't get too many other subs as loud.

Sundownz: Hey are you running all 2500w on a single D2? 12" or 15"? Also how do you like hte Magnum compared to your old brahma 15?

No sir, the two amps are not going on a Magnum D2. And I will be utilizing them both at 2 ohms for 1,400 RMS each. No further details will be provided, sorry.

The Brahma is a great sub, no doubt... but in the end I picked the Magnum over the Brahma. Actually, I had THREE Magnum 12s in my Firebird hatch for a while. The Magnum just had the SQ quality that I was looking for, anyone who uses one knows what I mean.

Yea i got a ZR600 on my MAG and it get's moving real nice....I did have some excursion porn on it but i deleated it

It is ina 2.62 cuft box tuned to 32hz and sounds awesome....although my next setup will probably be sealed in a fiberglassed spare tire well box.....although i don't want to leave ported

All too well. :)
