Posted May 10, 200718 yr Ok, I am in the market for my first Amp, and Sub set up, I have done tons of research and have talked to the guys at carstereo.com. I have a 2007 honda accord V6 EX-L, I have all stock speakers and all stock power, but it already sounds pretty good for all stock. I want my set up to sound smooth and fluent, rather than just ridiculous bass. I think I and going to get Fi Q15" sub, and Memphis PRD 16 1000.1, If there is any other set up that would meet my needs for around the same price, please let me know.Fi Q15Memphis 16 PRD 1000.1
May 10, 200718 yr Author Do you think that with such a powerful sub that i will have to replace the stock speakers?, or ya think it will be ok, or should I get a 12"? and how does the amp look?
May 10, 200718 yr the amp is a good amp, kinda ugly now, but built well nonetheless. will give you rated power and be fairly efficient about it.the sub, well, nothing i can say that hasn't already been said.stock speakers suck. i'm assuming your staying with the stoch headunit as well? i'd add good coaxils at the very least, and if possible a good component set up front. possibly add a rf360, jl cleansweep or something along those lines to help.if your worried about the sub/amp combo overpowering the factory stuff, run the sub in a sealed enclosure. flatter response for better blending and not as much output as a ported affair. though it should still provide plenty of output.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
May 10, 200718 yr Author Ok sounds great, I actually am going to get the Q12, because I dont want the sub taking up that much space, I am going to go 12 sealed, and maybe when I get the whole setup done, and if I dont like how it sounds then I will start upgrading stuff.
May 11, 200718 yr Author 5 bucks says you'll upgrade your stocks lolyea, probally, but the only reason that i am hesitant is because the car is leased, then what do I do when I have $1000 of audio equipment and i have to give the car back to honda? then i have to re-install the stock speakers back in. also there cant be ANY DAMAGE to the car, and it all has to be back in the original state.
May 11, 200718 yr swaping out the honda front sets are pretty fast and painlessthough i can see your point with the deck....No plans on buying the lease vehicle ??
May 11, 200718 yr Author swaping out the honda front sets are pretty fast and painlessthough i can see your point with the deck....No plans on buying the lease vehicle ??No, because I am only 16, and my parents dont want to own the car, then have to sell it, so we are just going to give it back in 36 months, but if it doesn't take and rewiring or drilling to replace the front speakers then I will definatly keep it in mind.
May 11, 200718 yr Even if it does take drilling and rewiring, just keep the stock wires and it will be easy to go back. It isn't like they are going to take the door skins off and say you have to pay for the teeny screw holes you put in.
May 13, 200718 yr I have been looking at the same memphis amp for a fi Q10 or fi SSD with the "BP Power" option added. I know those amps are pretty good and its always easier helping someone else out on his/her system but when it comes to your own system its harder to pick the right amp sometimes lol..I was debating on that memphis or a Hifonics BXi 1206D.You should have no problems installing new speakers into your lease vehicle. Like they said you can always keep the old wiring and what not. You wont have any damage to the vehicle at all if you watch what you are doing. Stock speakers do suck and you should also really power the new speakers or components with its own dedicated amp aswell, not by the cars stock amp or by the new head-unit.. So in other words look for a smaller memphis amp to push your highs/mids. Edited May 13, 200718 yr by jrm22
May 14, 200718 yr Admin I don't want to sound like a salesman, but there is also the new Sundown SAE-1000D
May 14, 200718 yr I don't want to sound like a salesman, but there is also the new Sundown SAE-1000DMaybe if the price wasnt so much on the sundown compared to other amps. The price went up after the pre-sale.I wouldnt pay $400 for the sundown amp. I know they run very efficient at .5 ohm and they can pound a sub very good but if I was gonna pay more for a amp Id rather have a Rockford Fosgate T10001bd. The BD line is a very good amp as we all know.. Even Steve Meade uses the Rockford BD series amps.. I can get a new Rockford T10001bd for $340 new not refurbished. I can also get that memphis PRD1000.1 for $289.
