May 18, 200718 yr Author Admin Cool I cant wait to hear them in the back of the Santa FeWELL YOU'LL BE FIRST TO SEE IT FOR SURE SINCE YOU ARE HELPING WITH THE BUILD, LOL
May 28, 200718 yr Author Admin pics are here. here's the specs. 8cuft enclosure tuned to 35hz with 87sq.in. of port. Ports has been double routered for smooth air flow, Optima Yellow top installed in the back(more electrical upgrade coming soon). All 1/0 AWG kicker wire...anyways, here you go.i'd like to add: this build took us 18hrs straight, not much sleep this weekend, and alot to trips to walmart for misc. tools.Credits: I'd like to say none of this would have happened if it weren't for the "hella" lot of help and design of one of our forum members SHiZNiLTi, thanks Garret. Here we dry fitted the box together to get the right perception of our project
May 28, 200718 yr Author Admin here is an image of the double edge routered portjust showing how big this is by refrence to the sub here in this pic.here's garett in the box, (6ft 7" tall!!)
May 28, 200718 yr Author Admin here's what the truck looks like factory:The cargo compartment is going to be removed, it's 8" deep and 45 wide! lots of more roomhere the box is fitted in to the hatch areahere's our hella smooth port after being routered smoothand the box before we attach the double baffle
May 28, 200718 yr Author Admin adding glue to the baffleholding it down is some serious weight, that big sub weighs 75 lbs. (it's also nailed)the shop areaah, the port! filed down smooth
May 28, 200718 yr Author Admin over in the car, we're putting in the batt, wire, amp, etc...and the dry fit of the box, almost therethis was at around 2am, total build time was 18hrs straight (you can see the sun coming up in further pics)perfect fit, right to the seat line, yummythe holes cut
May 28, 200718 yr Author Admin ah, the look of beautymounting the amp to the back of the boxfinally mounted the subsman this is sweet to see finally
May 28, 200718 yr Author Admin and here is the finally pics we have before the box is painted and finished.well thats it. this build took us 18hrs straight, started at 1pm sat, and ended sunday morning late! thanks again Garett!!!
May 28, 200718 yr Author Admin those are all being added tomorrow. Ran out of supplies at some point during the build
May 28, 200718 yr Thanks Mark(SSaudio) it was a fun build!Below is a short video of the setup. The camera is 7 years old and doesnt show near the amount of flex that there actually is, the subs are not even close to there full potential yet. Im going to get a new digital video camera soon that will pick up the cone movement much better. By that time they will be broken in and the gains will be set accordingly.Anyways here is the vid, enjoy...
May 28, 200718 yr Author Admin wow i didnt know he was that tallim 6ft880ya, he's a tall /huge fkerthis is what motivates me to keep doing audio projects.glad to hear it, expect more builds from us in the future, we're thinkn maybe 4 12" ICONs in the blazer
May 29, 200718 yr I love this box. That cubby hole makes the box look shorter than it is. Great job on planning and execution. How do the SSA subs sound? Looks good in the Video.
