June 14, 200718 yr Author What do I do if my amplifier only takes 4ga wire max, and I get 1/0? Can I just trim the wire up some so it'll fit or will that somehow short the connection out or something?-John Edited June 14, 200718 yr by ILuvJDM
June 14, 200718 yr Personally, I'd get a distribution block to size it down, or at a minimum, use a 1/0 to 4ga reducer.

Will trimming the wire lower the build quality of the project and affect something in the long run? If so, I'll get the distribution block, cause a $20 part isn't worth sacrificing the quality...-John

June 16, 200718 yr Trimming the wire will not hurt anything. Don't trim a 1/0 to 4ga or anything drastic like that...but if you have 1/0 inputs and your 1/0 cable wont fit, it's perfectly fine to trim it a bit.

I'll get a distribution block then to be on the safe side. That'll leave room in case I ever upgrade the front stage and need to power another amp-John
June 16, 200718 yr Author ok, well I thought I had it figured out until I looked at all the options for distribution blocks...from this page, which do I need?http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.c...0Fuse%20Blocks#I'll be using 1/0 wire that will be sized down to 4ga to power a 600watt amplifier, and may possibly use another amplifier in the future so it needs to have at least 2 outputsEdit: I would need this right?http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KNF-12which size fuses should I get with the distro block?also, which size fuse should I get for the regular fuse by the battery?-John Edited June 16, 200718 yr by ILuvJDM

June 17, 200718 yr Author im using hte konfused (2nd choice) block myself. i liek it goonna get the digital distro later on the lineread for fuse sizehttp://www.bcae1.com/fuses.htmyeah that's the one I'm going to getI've read that page about 10 times now and I still don't know which size to get? If the maximum size for 4 ga is 125, then should I get 100amp fuse? Since the block has 2 fuses should I get both of them the same size (two 100amp fuses)?and when the wire says "1/0" I'm not sure which number to use in that chart; 1ga or 0ga? Would getting a 200amp fuse for the main power wire be optimal?-John
June 17, 200718 yr the size on that site is the MAX you can use. a 250 or 200 for the 0 gauge would be fine and im usin a 80 or 70a (i forget) with my 4 gauge main wire. 1/0 = 0
