but when i push on the cone or surround it works again, i'm pretty sure it has something to with the spider monkey or whatever but i'm not sure

thanks

have you pulled it out and had a look if the tinsel leads have wear or any signs of coil damage (smell, sight or touch) ?

ooh you're fast

k nevermind it wasnt the spider monkey it was actually the tinsel leads

they're still connected but the wire is kinda dark near the terminals

is they're a quick fix for this?

get dmm, check ohmagem dont know about a fix for that, some solder i guess.

i'd shoot the spider monkey for chewing on the tinsel leads....

but that's jsut me.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

What's an ohmagem? :D

Sounds like something that happens when you leave food out too long..."Dude, there's some ohmagem on my sandwich!"

Burnt tinsel leads is a sign that there's too much current going to the woofer.

What's an ohmagem? :D

k well the subwoofer is a 10" infinity 1030w (fantastic SQ sub)

and the amp was an MTX282

i had the gain on the amp almost maxed out so that might explain the heavy current thing

the tinsel lead isnt exactly hanging by a thread or two but it is pretty wiggily

how the F do you fix that, the woofer is still perfectly good right except for the tinsel thing?

What's an ohmagem? :D

LOL!!!! :fing34:

Have the spider monkey test what ohm that sub is showing on each coil with your DMM (assuming it's dvc-ask the monkey). :D

If it's reading right, just get out the soldering gun and work around the mokey poop till you get that thing soldered back on right.

Still good-- who knows? See if it works after soldering. Theres a chance it might be.
