Posted June 8, 200718 yr hey guys just joined up here...i have around 3k posts over at caraudio.com forumsright now i have a single 18" Fi Q in 6.5 cubes ported on 1000 watts in my jeep grand cherokeeive heard tons of things about the MJ18..i am trying really hard to decided if i should change it to 2 MJ 18's sealed in around 7 cubes with 400 watts a piece...from everyones experience what do you thinkwill i gain any output?i am gaining cone areabut loosing RMS/subi am also going from ported to sealed because i am not sure if i could fit the MJ's ported.let me knowthanks guys
June 8, 200718 yr Admin The Q is a very nice driver. If you were to go with the MJ's, from experience, I know they do not need monster boxes.
June 8, 200718 yr We put an MJ18 in 3.5cf sealed and the output was suprising to say the least @ 400w. It was really loud and sounded really nice doing it, 2 of the them would be great, but if your just looking for SPL only I'm not so sure I'd switch as the gain would probably not be that much.
June 8, 200718 yr Author but you are saying that there will be a gain?and if they do not need that much room....what would you suggest for two ported? and what would you suggest for two sealed?also id like to have about the same output as the Q, but id like to sound good and get low...let me know thanks for the replies

You could run them ported, and the box would still be smaller than the sealed MJ18.
June 11, 200718 yr Author what about band pass...i just want to know weather you guys think ill be gaining anything...either SQ, or output
June 11, 200718 yr Admin I was just thinking the one things is that you could get 8 ohm MJ's and get a single amp that does power at 2 ohms or 4 ohm MJs and an amp that does power at 1 ohm.
