T-nuts. I have used some in the past that were 2 1/2in. in length. You can determine the size you will need for your application once you look at them at the store. There are different types of nuts. I have used the one with three teeth, but when it came to take out the sub it came loose from underneath the wood. I would use the one with several teeth that looks like a thimble with teeth. that before building a box you will have to mount them on the underside of the baffle. They also have some that you still have to mount on the baffle, but they have small screw holes that you can use to hold them into place. If you don't wanna go to lowes just check www.partsexpress.com They have some with special screw heads some they can't be easily removed. As for diameter. Don't go any larger than the mounting holes on the frame of the speaker.

I much prefer EZ Locs.

Look them up on McMaster Carr.

What is that?

A threaded insert that won't strip out of the MDF.

I know exactly what you are talking about.

hay thanks for the help I'll look into the ez locks. now I haven't had a prob. with the screws striping out but rather the heads breaking off when I really crank it. I found some 1/4" X 2" lag screws and was thinking that they might work in stead of the wood screws what do you all think?

If you can get them to stay in place. The problem is always making it where is will not pull out of the box.
